Really, we are getting beat by Western Kentucky, Rice, and Kent State. How are they able to afford better scoreboards?

Probably because they have the money for a new scoreboard and are not saving money for a new end-zone.

Western Kentucky: 2009
Rice: 2006
Kent State: 2008

Iowa State: 2002

Only Michigan State, North Carolina State, Ohio State, and Arkansas are above us on the list with older scoreboards. When that scoreboard was put in it was pretty darn big, it just hasn't been a priority to replace it yet. I would imagine that our scoreboard also cost significantly more than any of the three "larger" scoreboards you listed. THink about buying a 52" plasma tv in 2002 and what it costs now. It would be interesting to see what those three schools had prior to their recent upgrades and how many years it had been since they last replaced it? I would bet they were replacing something MUCH smaller than what we have now and had it for a lot longer than 8 years.

Additional use of a nice big video board... movie nights.

Nah... don't upgrade now. Wait until the "3d" scoreboard comes out... then we can be the first to have one.

Kind of puts things in perspective a little. We are in last finacially in the Big 12. We have the 12th best facilities. "Worst gameday stadium" (Not according to cyclone fans however)

Probably hard to expect top tier results with bottom tier funding and expectations.
