I have to agree on the ick-factor of Lithia. A little piece of me died when Jordan Motors sold out... Lithia was outright dishonest with me on a warranty issue. And one fateful day they neglected to reserve a loaner car for me, which they had promised. After I missed an appointment whilst sitting in their waiting area waiting for the MIA loader car, I found that that you really can clear out the entire shop by instituting a holy screaming war on the guys that sit at the little desks in the service bay... I had waited two weeks for an appointment with a loaner car. Not happy. [Understatement.]
Toyota of Des Moines couldn't work themselves up to offering a minutia of respect to me, which I assume is because I'm a chick and thus I'm supposed to be stupid and gullible.
I was Wilson's biggest fan in Ames ... until they forgot to put oil in my car when I brought it in for an oil change. And then tried to convince me that it really doesn't harm a car to drive it without oil. My lawyer argued otherwise. And until my lawyer's letter landed on Mr Wilson's desk, the service guys just kept telling to to forget about it.
I liked my experience with Hummels ... until we wasted about a week because the satellite radio wouldn't connect. Turns out they sold me a car without the satellite receiver, but told me it was there. Instead of making it right, they made me pay for the hardware while they 'donated' the labor. They may have gotten that labor, but they will *never* see another dime from me again.
And the Honda place in Des Moines was especially jerkish to us when we tried to negotiate there.
Wow. Typing this all out has painfully reminded me why I generally hate car dealers.
:skeptical:
Lou Walsh in Carroll and Bob Brown in Ankeny are the only two places I can say treated us with enough decency to make us ever do repeat business.
