Supposedly Ferentz is no longer a candidate for the Michigan job. It's unknown how far things got with him but it's very probable that he interviewed at some level for the position based on reports out of Detroit and Ann Arbor. Supposedly the focus has shifted to Peterson and some other lesser knowns.

So does Iowa City revolt or celebrate now?

Actually, since Iowa picked up 2 recruits yesterday, I'm starting to wonder how much of this has been true, and how much of it is media fed. I'll admit, I've been worried, and have bought into the "We've heard KF is interviewing..."

But if he was indeed interviewing, does anybody else think it's odd that Iowa got two verbals yesterday? I'd think it would be pretty rare that a recruit would verbal to a school if he thought there was a good chance that the coach would be gone. I mean, let's face it, KF is the main selling point for Iowa. I doubt he'd just take off and leave after compiling a decent (now back in the top 60...) class.

It's obvious to me there was some mutual interest. If not, why didn't Kirk squash the rumors right off the bat?

It doesn't matter what happens. Either way Miss hawk fan knows it will be the best for their program and will get them their earned BCS championship the soonest. And regardless of if Michigan hires Ferentz or not, it will either be "Michigan offered and couldn't tear our Kirkie from our high echelon program" or it will be "Now that Michigan got him and his guaranteed salary out of IC, we can now get the coach that will take us to the BCS championship and we all know that the likes of Bobby Stoops and Pete Carrols of the world will be tripping all over each other trying to secure the best job in college football".

You know either way, Hawk fans are too shallow to realize if it puts them in a worse position then they are already in.:twitcy:

I don't want or think Ohio State will win, but let's be honest. How funny would it be if Les Miles lost to Ohio State in a game in which he was favored, and then he was hired by Michigan?

Answer: absolutely none of it...Ferentz has never been their target.

Anybody still think it's going to be Miles? I do.

I live in Baton Rouge.

Last week I was virtually certain that it was to be Miles based upon the information I knew.

Today I think it virtually certain that it will not be him. LSU and Miles' agent (George Bass) have put a contract together on a rush basis and it is set to go in front of the LSU Board of Supervisors (like the Board of Regents) tonight for approval.

I just cannot believe that Michigan will wait until mid January to have a new coach in place. I also cannot believe that Miles and his agent would go through all the negotiations they have over the last week if he was not staying.

Having said that, even if Miles signs the new contract...what does a signed contract mean anymore?

Interesting and good info. Keep us informed on the BoR approval and the details of the contract - like buy out clauses, etc.

That would be too funny! There would be panic in the streets of Ann Arbor!

Jamie Pollard told me that Michigan has not contacted him to speak with Ferentz. Since Iowa State owns Ferentz I would be very surprised if Pollard didn't get contacted prior to Ferentz interviewing. If Michigan did interview Ferentz without first contacting Pollard should we be ticked off?? I know I would be.

Ferentz was never a serious candidate. Maybe three years ago, but not now when he is only a .500 coach.

Why would he not end the rumors-- he needs the attention and wants us to continue to believe that he really deserves to be one of the top ten paid coaches in America, and of course, the "the state's highest paid employee".
