There likely is alot of ISU grads here in CR working there. Though this won't affect them. They are only laying off hawkeyes errrr manufacturing workers.

They have done alot of expansion here in cedar rapids as well. I would imagine they have added something like 500-700 jobs in the last two years.

I know what the article said, but does the election of Obama have and the assumed cuts in military/defense have anything to do with this? I know the article mentions a cut of a government program.

It'd certainly help them if Boeing was awarded the KC-767 contract. I know they supply the avionics for the 767. I don't think they do the Airbus/Northrup Grumman proposal (though I'm not 100% sure about that). However if they do, then they just need somebody to win the damn thing.

I highly doubt it. If they were working on gov't contracts, they are pretty much set in place by now and that's not going to change. The gov't cancels programs all the time for various reasons. Some of them NEED to be killed off.

Aside from that, cuts in military/defense were going to happen no matter who got elected. Obama doesn't change any of that.

RC flows in cycles, like many large companies. Expand, grab market, cut the fat while the market swings, and then wait for a market rebound. This is the fat getting cut, and it probably won't be the end based on past events.

Untrue statement. Their are lots of people who work in the manufactoring department besides just the workers. For example you have supervisors, managers, buyers, schedulers, and the list goes on. There are a lot of ISU grads who work within one of those positions.
