I told someone at work last night that Barnes days at Texas are numbered.. He thought I was crazy! Also, Bruce Weber's Kansas State job might be in jeopardy as well.

I think Barnes has tried to get out of Texas several times over the last few years. His name was mentioned with a lot of jobs.

Texas should be careful what they wish for though. Getting a seriously good coach is a lot harder than it used to be. Mid-majors can pay their coaches a lot of money now and it seems like the good mid-major coaches aren't really making the jump.

I doubt it. I think they would have liked to drop him last year, but didn't want to bring on new football and basketball coaches in the same year.

If he doesn't make the tournament he's done.

Gregg Marshall would be my top pick, though who knows if he leaves. Goes without saying that they need a young-ish, charismatic leader type who plays an exciting brand. If it wasn't unpossible, Fred would be their dream hire (it's unpossible).

Marshall is anything but charismatic. #******

Not sure if he's gone or not. Seeing how he has wasted a very talented Myles Turner should make any bigman take UT off their list of options. So much talent down low and Barnes chooses to be a guard oriented team. If I'm scratching my head I'm sure many UT fans are too.

I've been saying for years that Rick Barnes is horribly overrated, especially in the media. Yes, they consistently make the tourney, which is a tremendous accomplishment. But Texas expects more, and rightfully so given their talent. Their underachievement, when it's all said and done, is nearly as consistent as their NCAA appearances.

A bad coach? No. Overrated? Most definitely.

Turner could've scored on us almost every time if they actually knew how to use him
