The more I think about it, I think ISU will be ok IF every conference does the 16 team thing.

Iowa State would make a perfect pairing with Kansas if the Big Ten is going to expand.

If the Big Ten doesn’t take Iowa State, there actually would potentially be a good amount of value for the Pac-12 to pick up four of the Big 12 left-behinds. As it stands now, there isn’t a single Pac-12 conference game that starts before 3 or 4pm Eastern Time. Having a pod in the Midwest gives the Pac-12 access to the Noon Eastern time slot. The Pac-12 would be the only conference with four TV time slots.

The Pac 12 is never going to take a religious based school or K State's academics. TCU, Baylor and K State are in more trouble that Iowa State if the Big 12 ends. They probably have to take the top part of the AAC and try a 'new Big 12'

K State, TCU, Baylor, Houston, Cinci, UCF, Memphis and try to poach Boise, Colorado State and either New Mexico or Wyoming from the Mountain West. It'll be a poop show.

If all conferences go to 16 quickly, we're fine.

Where it gets hairy is if everyone else stays put and we either carry on as an 8 team league or elevate some other schools.

We'd be viewed about the same as the Pac 12 and would get an undefeated champ into the playoff maybe, but the problem would come in bringing in 4 current G5 schools and watching them take our spot 5 years from now when the Big 10 or Pac 12 decide to go to 16.

This is insanity, did not see this coming. Jamie better be on the phone all day with Big 10 and Pac 12 as well as the other institutions. Hate to speculate on 'rumors' but we cant afford to be left in the dust this time.

How close is the nearest major airport that teams currently use to fly in and out of to get to KSU, we know that teams flying into Des Moines and then bus the 30 to 40 minutes up to Ames, what is the situation for Manhattan?

American has daily flights into Manhattan from Chicago O'hare and DFW. KCI is about hour and a half from there also.

If teams are flying, they are flying into Manhattan .

Jamie is one of the best ADs in the nation, I have faith he will protect ISU as best he can. He can't work miracles though.

Yeah that was my #4 worst case for ISU in an earlier post. A 20-team Big12... and as bad as it is, given time the revenue would creep towards Pac12 levels.

That assumes conferences remain and it doesn't go to a 20 team blue blood league with no NCAA. Then it's hitting the reset button for like 50 schools...

I am FOR that. Folks sorry its time to get people to wake up a little. Something is wrong with the magnetic polls. Being near any large body of water is problematic right now.

Assuming the Big 12 couldn't add a Big 10, ACC or SEC school. You first calls are to the Arizona schools and BYU

Tier 2 names I wouldn't mind are Colorado, Utah

Tier 3: Houston (Mega city, more Texas exposure, a city that is turning into a SEC town), SMU (You think TCU has money... Just wait), Memphis (FedEx connection and good basketball), UCF and USF

Pac12 not a good option for "student" athletes. The additional travel time would have to be a major issue for anyone serious about getting an education.

I agree, but I think the "student" athlete is a thing of the past, and getting a good education is no longer the primary concern in these issues.

if you have CMC it doesnt matter where we go, how do you know what he wants? sure seems like a guy on some mission that is bigger than football to me.

It's more about our ability to keep him and his staff compensated in the future. I don't think he cares who is on the schedule that much, but if we can't give him and his staff what they need, it will be tough to keep them here.

Even if it will stabilize the conference, it will stabilize it as a G5 conference, meaning we will lose tremendous amounts of money and recruits, and therefore probably lose our coaching staff and any facility upgrades.
What facilities do we have left to upgrade? The press box maybe? But who cares if randy Peterson has a swanky seat up there.

This thread is going off the rails like expected. Did not have large bodies of water and magnetic "polls" on my realignment bingo card, anyone else?

And I won’t be watching 1 minute of it.

This right here is why one or two mega conferences with only the 20-30 most elite programs participating makes zero sense. ESPN and these streaming services are going to want MORE interest not LESS. They want MORE volume and more viewership not less. You knock Iowa State and similar programs down to irrelevant/meaningless games you lose so much fan interest and viewership around the country. It just doesn't add up.
