30 miles......I'm not getting much done, besides, I no longer own a bike so I will need to ride an old 20" kids bike. Those hills are going to be bad.

haha yeah that would be rough on you. My commute is only 3 miles and takes roughly 10 minutes more by bike so it's not bad.

'm a programmer in Des Moines. Heading to grad school in a little bit for cybersecurity. I underestimated my free time after college for sure as it's hard to be on CF that much anymore.

So you want to move to CR right? If so let me know...

A girl I interned with (at big airplane manufacturer in Seattle) 5 years ago just flew my plane to San Diego. What a small world! :D

Crazy!

I'm just like in shock I guess? Not for her being able to do it, she's smart as **** but just the thought. She always wanted to fly planes and wouldn't shut up about it and now she's a pilot. And I've literally witnessed it and experienced it. I'm just like... proud? as an acquaintance I guess.

Anyway. Since the flight was delayed I missed Game of Thrones and now I much watch

Great to hear that she was able to make it through and follow her dream! Was it mainline or a regional?

A couple of days ago, Mrs JC and I were running errands. We were in a store and she commented about how pretty the orchids are and how she'd really like to have an orchid. The timing was perfect so I responded, "Which one do you want? I'll hide it in the closet until Sunday."

These were called "ice cube orchids" and all you have to do to take care of the plant is put 3 ice cubes in the vase once a week. I suppose we better figure out a way to keep the cats away from it too.
Good for you! You listened. You really listened :)

Very close, CG -- you'd get an A for effort, but we grade on a curve here. ;) Baby is getting bigger (15 pounds when we were out there two weeks ago) and smarter, of course. Just started with solid food and so far loves prunes. DD says she can tell... Didn't realize there's a questionnaire now to fill out before regular checkups, like the 6-month. DD said they got a 6-month checkup form, but doctor said they should have gotten a 4-month form. Baby was born in Oct, about 6 wks early, so I guess they use "original due date" here instead of birth date. Wow, the things this grandma learns.

Ha, the questionnaire! We'd been getting those and then nothing for our 9 month so I figured maybe because no shots=no form? Get to check in and they're like do you have your form? Ummmmmmmmmm no? So she hands it to me and it's like 8 pages long of course. All about development and seeing if they've started doing 100 different things. FYI to your daughter, definitely get and fill that out ahead! Pretty sure we got little man marked as behind in a couple areas cause we're like have you seen him do this? Nah, don't think so??? And of course the form says try each of this with your child before answering  Of all the times for those forms to get lost in the mail, that one was a doozy.

Glad to hear she's growing and doing well!

So I just received a Groupon email notification for Colon Hydrotherapy. I don't even want to know.

Finally getting caught back up.

I spent several days with my parents this past week. My dad always has little projects he needs help with, and I was hoping morels were out on my uncle's farm ground, so I went back for an extended visit.

We got a new storm door bought and installed, cleaned the lint out of the dryer vent, and I showed my mom how to can peppers using my recipe. No morels, unfortunately. I was about a week too early.

Good to visit with the folks -- I haven't been there since New Years. They seem to be in good health, but you never know how many more visits you'll get.

Lucky dog. With mine, she won't say she'd like to have one, she would just buy one.
I don't do houseplants because cats.
My impulse buys are far more bizarre, at least in some peoples' eyes...they make perfect sense to me. I buy things that make me smile.

Moral of the story - count your blessings. An orchid is probably smaller... :D

This is why we are going to Texas twice a year now.

I’d be open to moving to CR if the right opportunity came

HINT: They will always like it when you give them jewelry. One size fits all.

DISCLAIMER you’ve never met my wife. I’ve returned jewelry.
Me too. To the jewelry store and to a jewelry party.

Once when she went to a jewelry party, I enlisted the help of a neighbor that was going to the party with her. She was going to report to me about what jewelry item she seemed to be most interested in. Seemed like a foolproof plan. Nope. It was not foolproof.
