A girl I interned with (at big airplane manufacturer in Seattle) 5 years ago just flew my plane to San Diego. What a small world! :D

Crazy!

I'm just like in shock I guess? Not for her being able to do it, she's smart as **** but just the thought. She always wanted to fly planes and wouldn't shut up about it and now she's a pilot. And I've literally witnessed it and experienced it. I'm just like... proud? as an acquaintance I guess.

Anyway. Since the flight was delayed I missed Game of Thrones and now I much watch

sounds like everyone's been busy! RunninMan a better version of BDK?

I was gonna do Ragbrai this year for the first time. Looks like I'll have to wait until next year. Anyone doing Ragbrai here?

RunninMan is a actually pretty neat dude, in school, church youth group leader(?), performs on stage occasionally, and photographer . More like the antithesis of BDK.

Velo does Ragbrai on the regular. I slid in a couple of yrs yrs ago (mason City yr) and rode 5 of 7 days. I did it solo, it was ok but I would suggest joining a group of some kind , it would have been more fun to have someone to hang with at the end of the day. That Lansing area that yr had some serious hills but luckily I had quite a few miles in and no walking the hills for me. I may or may not be in this yr haven't touched my bike yet this spring.

So did she recognize you or did you just hear her name over the intercom during announcements?

The vixen and I went to church with her folks yesterday and then up to the Pizza Ranch in Pocahontas for dinner. (Mom's choice.) Afterward we went back to Manson to where the FIL and MIL live, about 3:30 or so the sun came out - what a great thing that was!

Nice relaxed day, stories and laughter and good times. Moar of that please.......

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day weekend and remembered just how important mothers are. They are God's greatest gift (after His kid, of course) to be sure. :)

I tried my hand on a mother's day gift this year for the wife. Usually I will just go with flowers or hit a gift certificate for a pedi or medi or such. I thought with grad coming the flowers would just get mixed in, so i gave it a shot. Only took me about 5 seconds to realize that the foray into that try would be finding a return for something else once again. It's like trying something again because you don't understand why you don't like something and then realizing why you don't do that anymore. Should have solved my gift buying again for 4-5 years.

I didn't have any. But consider this - they are always an option if she changes her mind. Even in the middle of labor. Support her choices. :)
Sometimes I like to make comments about how women have it so easy during childbirth. And sometimes, as I'm thinking about what comment to make, somebody will make a simple and practical comment with a an eloquent closing sentence and I just figure that it's best to not make whatever comment I was going to make.

A couple of days ago, Mrs JC and I were running errands. We were in a store and she commented about how pretty the orchids are and how she'd really like to have an orchid. The timing was perfect so I responded, "Which one do you want? I'll hide it in the closet until Sunday."

These were called "ice cube orchids" and all you have to do to take care of the plant is put 3 ice cubes in the vase once a week. I suppose we better figure out a way to keep the cats away from it too.

Lucky dog. With mine, she won't say she'd like to have one, she would just buy one.

I gave up alcohol for a while

KC got retired

jc & bc's kid's are going to koolege. One (or both??? I feel bad I can't remember on JC now) to ISU
Z is a real little person now
Wxman has two little persons
Sara moved
Pants moved..........twice depending how long you've been gone. Riley still fat corgi, now with the beetus
Boxster still riding into the wind and enjoying pie and wine
NWICY still working and making delicious sounding food
Cyclonesrgr8 (totally butchered that) still working a lot for a terrible sounding place
Cooler's kid is good at kicking the ball
Lawman's daughter gave him a scare a few months ago but good now
SC went to work hungover on Friday it sounds like
Carvers left us and I miss her
We have a newer lady whose name I shall butcher - MCyrx? That's not even close. Mrse3ISU? that's closer has become a regular. She has an itty granddaughter who we should ask about - getting big now I presume
Birdy is brave and took all her chickadees to Disney and is about to run a half marathon
RunninMan is another new regular - he's a youngin like we used to be, still in school

I missed a couple and I do apologize

Very close, CG -- you'd get an A for effort, but we grade on a curve here. ;) Baby is getting bigger (15 pounds when we were out there two weeks ago) and smarter, of course. Just started with solid food and so far loves prunes. DD says she can tell... Didn't realize there's a questionnaire now to fill out before regular checkups, like the 6-month. DD said they got a 6-month checkup form, but doctor said they should have gotten a 4-month form. Baby was born in Oct, about 6 wks early, so I guess they use "original due date" here instead of birth date. Wow, the things this grandma learns.

HINT: They will always like it when you give them jewelry. One size fits all.

future troublemaker there. Sounds like he'll be like DH by how you describe him.

I'm a programmer in Des Moines. Heading to grad school in a little bit for cybersecurity. I underestimated my free time after college for sure as it's hard to be on CF that much anymore.

he's probably a little engineer in the making. Loves figuring out how stuff moves.

That's cool, definitely a hot area right now!
