what do ya'll listen to around here?

im mostly a country fan, so im specifically looking for a country station. personally i think 97.3 sucks, not just because of their name. all they play are those tired new songs, and i like to hear the classics too, if not more. at work today i stumbled upon 101.1 which is ok, but i was wondering if there were others..

i also listen to 107.5 because it is just like any other kiss fm. but what about other say, hip-hop stations?

i also listen to 103.3 or 105.1 because theyll occaisonally play something i like, but they really arent my type of music.

i have a bunch of free time at work and listen to the radio, so suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

I listen to 105.1 as far as FM stations go, I like Tarbox in the afternoons. I think 106.3 or something is hip-hop. I usually find myself listening to 1460 or 1700 AM this time of year.

I don't know anything about country stations, they all sound the same to me.

Have you listened to 92.5? I typically flip between 97.3 and 92.5. I like 97.3 because they typically just keep playing music and not a lot of talk and commercials.

I'm boring. I mostly listen to public radio news, AM 640. I also listen to KXNO & ESPN during football season and sometimes during basketball season.

When I do listen to music, I usually cycle through these stations until I find something I like...
95 KGGO
100.3 The Bus
Capitol 106.3
Star 102.5 for 80s Friday nights

101.1 out of Marshalltown is part of the Cyclone Radio Network, so I try to support them by listening when I listen to Country.

Can't help you evaluating country stations but 540 is country and you can get their signal seemingly everywhere in this state.

bob and tom is on 98.3 in the mornings. 102.5 is ok, 106.3 is quite lame. 92.5 and 101.1 are the best country options.

Check out the Bus, 100.3 FM. A lot of the music is older, but it's top quality and you won't here the same songs over and over.

I really enjoy the new variety 106.3

105.1 is fine depending on Mancow's subject he's talking about. Sometimes he's horrible.

103.3 is too heavy for me...too much screaming.

107.5 is the worst station I've ever heard in my life. I hate the crap they play. The wife turns to that station just to annoy me.

90% of the time it's either KXNO, ESPN radio or my ipod.

Mancow is terrible, I'm so glad I graduated from highschool and moved out of range so I don't have to listen to him on my drive to school. Tarbox is my favorite guy on the station, although I did prefer his morning routine compared to the After school Special. PS if he's reading(I seem to recall him posting before) no more Flobots and I still find that a place actually made a Popped taco drink hilarious.

I don't see myself ever paying to listen to the radio, but that's just me.

There are also free music streams on the internet. Doesn't do you much good in the car, though.

But I agree: I don't see myself ever paying for satellite radio. Unless maybe I end up with a job that keeps me on the road a lot, which I don't really see happening in the foreseeable future.

For the 30 min commute each way, having no commercials is worth the $10 a month.

Plus you can stream it all day long at work.

Pending on where you are 96.9 out of Ft. Dodge is a pretty good country station, they play new, old and some older classics, closer to 101.1, but still a bit different
