Good luck to you. I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know, I assume, but it's all about the mindset. It sounds weird to say out loud, but it's still true; I wasn't able to quit until I was ready to quit. Once my mind flipped that switch, that made the difference. It was never easy, but it was easier.I'm about to make a run at quitting so I read through this thread. Some good advice here. I quit drugs cold turkey many years ago, but was never addicted to any of those. Been smoking for 28 years so this is gonna be tough. Cutting down on crappy foods is gonna be tough also, but I'm not getting any younger so it's time.
Thanks, man. It's not gonna be easy that's for sure. I just have to focus on keeping my stress levels to a minimum.Good luck to you. Try pornography. The kinkier the better. Once you've seen a 4'2" octogenarian from Latvia do unsavory things with a rutabaga, the yen for that next cigarette will be the furthest thing from your mind. Of course you will pick up a new addiction, in the form of a perpetual need to disinfect your eyeballs and ram your head against a wall in a futile effort to give yourself Memento style memory loss, but hey, you won't be smoking...I know it's bad but I ******* love smoking. For me it is about taking scheduled breaks in my day to relieve stress. Get out of a sales meeting and go outside to fire up a camel blue...etc. I'm about a pack a week which could be worse, but I also hit the wife's vap in the evenings. Not sure if that is better or worse. I think about quitting all the time but its hard to let it go, especially because I don't enjoy most forms of natural stress relievers, like exercise.
