"For those that are interested:

My report date is 15 February, so I'm rushing about getting Visas, physicals and various things prepared."

So soon! I'll be praying for you and your family!

Wow, that certainly was quick. Must say, your government job seems to be a lot more interesting than mine

Hope you're at least getting hazard pay out of this. That's the least the government can do for you and your family for sending you over there for a year like that.

Hope to hear a lot from you while you're over there, and in the words most Iowans will appreciate, "keep your stick on the ice..."

Oh, yeah, I'll be armed. M4, M9 and anything else I can pick up at the bazaar.

Excellent. There is no way in hell I'd go back into theater if I couldn't carry. Obviously not a problem being in the military, but the KBR guys weren't allowed to. That would make me feel real uncomfortable.

Keep the morale high and keep us informed! 20+ years in the military and still going strong on the civilian side, you are a true American hero. My thoughts go out to you and your family.
