Really? How so?

Just sounds like you'd rather have bunch of choir boys and lose...just to say look how good our kids are eiu.

With the major sports these kids are here to play football/basketball for the most part...alot of these kids probably wouldnt go to college if they werent good at their sports...the university uses them b/c its a huge money maker, so why not bring in questionable athletes? If they step out of line they get kicked off the team. Lay down the rules if they dont like leave, I dont care about the kids history if he can play I want him. If he cant handle the rules applied then they get kicked off the team.

The people that ruin athletic programs through violations aren't athletes or coaches, its boosters who are usually well educated, rich and who like to take risks.

Wow....just wow.....some broad generalizations among other things.

I just hope the next time some idiot at EIU gets arrested I don't hear any complaining out of you or the rest of the people here who don't care about integrity.

You do realize kicking somebody off the team hurts the APR...because normally if they get kicked off; they don't stay in school.

Just putting this out there...everybody else seems to hedge on this topic. But we all know kids especially good athletes get 2nd, 3rd chances.

Just out of curiousity...To the people who are voting to bend the rules. Which rules should we be bending?

I would guess that most of you who chose winning over integrity, care nothing about the student athletes as people. Many of you were talking about being willing to except some sanctions from the NCAA, but have you considered how it would negatively affect student athletes?

For most of the players, they will never make it to the next level; as a result, those players need to have coaches set good examples so that they can be a positive addition to the work force and society. You can't overestimate the affect that a coach can have in a athletes life, positive or negative.

I don't think you have to look any further then our own Stevie Hicks to see why we need to promote integrity over winning.

What is the Iowa State connection to Hicks' tragic suicide? I don't follow...

They all made such a big deal about playing football that he felt like a loser because he wasn't playing any longer. There were many things he could of done with his life beyond football. With Hicks it wasn't so much the coaches as it was everyone else around him, but it shows why we need keep these guys grounded.

Ask Indiana fans this question and I bet you option #1 is a much more popular choice. The winning might be good in the short term but dirty programs come back to haunt you and tear it apart quickly. Only now is Baylor finally recovering from their mess.

It took them 4-5 years to go from the verge of NCAA death penalty to the NCAA tournament! Greg can't get there from starting one year removed from a tourney berth! Hell, he can't even get ONE upset in 3 years at home. Scott Drew >>>>>>>>> Greg McDermott.
