Late Night Special: 2 mediums for about $13
One summer in the early 80's they had pitchers of beer for a quarter!
And they still have the Klipsch KG2 speakers hanging from the ceiling.
Does anyone out there remember when Thumb's Up was in campustown?
Also many a Thursday Night was spent at the Cave-In "socializing."
Pizza Pit is still a part of the Ames Pizza "Slice" Triangle:
*Pizza Pit
*Old George's
*Great Plains
Which forms the Top tier pizza locations in the Ames / Boone Metropolitan Statisical area.![]()

You are missing the 4th piece of that puzzle making it the "Quadrangle" and it almost brings me to tears bringing it up.
I was there between 86 and 91 and DaVinci's was the best place to eat pizza at in town in my opinion. Made it there at least twice a year since graduating until I decided to take my parents out there 2 years ago and, much to my dismay, it was replaced by a Chinese joint. Now if that ain't a Crock of "Hawkeye", I don't know what is.

Ah, the cheesesteak hoagies were delicious. & an artery clogger
Unfortunately, DaVinci's couldn't keep their heads above water. Which isn't much of a shock when toward the end of their run they had specials of 25 cent (?) cheesesteak hoagies with each one you bought at regular price. The same deal for their pizzas
The large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese was to die for...
I started a thread way back when I found out they were gone and someone came on saying that the DaVinci building had been a gas station prior, and there lease was up and in order to meet compliance, they were going to have to do soil tests to see if the buried gasoline tanks were leaking any contamination.
