Got a pit boss last year and really like it. The sliding sear plate is great. Didn’t realize some Traegers don’t have that and id really miss not being able to expose the flame for searing steaks.

I can tell some temp inconsistencies from left to right in it though.

Also, wish I waited a year. The new pit boss models that Lowe’s have look awesome.

I’ve had a Traeger for 3 years. I love using it.

The vertical or the regular? My FIL has the big Copperhead vertical and while it makes great food, it seems like a PITA to keep clean with all the racks and glass.
Regular, the sportsman series 15lb pellet hopper. It’s the small one, but I don’t need a big smoker.

Have had a Green Mountain for about 8 years. Great Grill. Son has a Traeger. Son-in-Law has Pit Boss. Good grills as well.

Green Mountain is Push Button Digital at 5 degree increments. 150-500.

Pit Boss and Traeger go up to 450. Dial Control with 25 degree increments.

Pit Boss might be the biggest bang for the buck.

Agree about Pit Boss, but they don't have 25F increments after 250F unless that has changed.

I've seen some videos about mitigating the temp inconsistencies related to the sliding sear plate. I love the idea of the sliding sear plate but I'd assume you'd have to clean it after nearly every single cook.

I'm not sure that you can really go wrong. I love my Green Mountain but the price has went up a lot. I have friends with Rec-Tec, Pit Boss, Traeger, Camp Chef. They all do the same thing. Pit Boss has good pricing and they seem to go on sale regularly.

Bought a Camp Chef Woodwind early this year. Absolutely love it. Got the sear box attachment, but a lot of people love the sidekick because of its versatility. If you're used to LP smokers, you may want to get a smoke tube to add extra smoke to your cooks. Like $15.
I have a Camp Chef WIFI as well and it’s awesome.

I had a Traeger and traded it off for a GMG. Better customer service and now cheaper than a traeger If your looking at full size models.

We've had Green Mountain since 2013. Started with a Daniel Boone, then bought a Jim Bowie and the little tailgater one (can't remember the name.) They've now changed the names to Trek (tailgater), Ledge (Daniel Boone) and Peak (Jim Bowie). We didn't use the smallest one much, so we sold it. My husband wanted the newest model, so we bought the Prime Peak SS. (He gave away the other two) It has wifi, the top of the pellet hopper now has glass so we can see when it's getting low (instead of lifting the lid to check) and lots of other gadgets my husband loves. We also use it as a regular grill. And it is used A LOT.

He can smoke 6 pork butts on the Peak. We've learned to do multiple at a time, vacuum seal them with some of the juice (we have a Foodsaver) and put them in the freezer. Some of the vacuum packed bags have enough for two people, some are enough for a party. If we have a bunch of friends over (or want pulled pork for tailgating), we just warm it up and he isn't spending the whole day tied to the smoker.

Thats what my wife said after all the ******* around I’ve done with the last two. I’m just doing my due diligence.
Just go get it. Life is to short plus I am sure you have done a lot this year to reward yourself. Bite the bullet and buy it.

I’ve got a Traeger Pro Series 34. Bought it used off a guy who used it maybe 10 times and never cleaned it or seemed to take care of it. Cleaned it up and it works great.

HOWEVER, question for other Traeger owners, about 3 or 4 times, Ive lost my fire and temp drops, obviously. I have to take it apart and suck it out with my shop vac. Then start it back up and it seems to go again. I have read and do everything I understand in how to run them but is there anything you guys know about this issue? Oddly, it seems to happen when I’m smoking chicken wing so I am able to just finish them on the grill but that can’t have anything to do with it. Is there a good place people go for Traeger maintenance?

I’m looking at a Traeger 22 or 34 type pellet grill. Anything to look at outside of Traeger for a similar or cheaper price? I’ve had an electric and and LP smoker and both were junk. It will mostly be used for smoking since we have a Weber gas for everyday stuff.
“Everyday Stuff”

If you give yourself a little extra time, you can make burgers on a Traeger that are slap-yo-mama good. 10 times better than anything on a normal grill, IMO. And way juicier.

I’ve got a Traeger 780 pro. It has the digital display and WiFi connection and it’s been great. I am waiting on a replacement auger for it right now though because the weld broke that connected it to the motor shaft.
