Looking at possibly purchasing a pellet grill. Is there a store in the DM metro that carries a few different brands to compare in person? Looked at them all online, just kind of want to see some in person.
Thanks

I'd recommend going with a Grilla Grill. You won't be able to find them at any stores because they only sell direct. I have the OG (Grilla) which is more of an egg shape - love the construction and style of this unit. The Silverbac is the traditional grill style.

I'd Check out TNT Landscaping in Ankeny. They carry EVERYTHING BBQ related.

i have had a traeger for 10 years. great machine not american made anymore. biggest thing is get grill that gets hot enough to sear steaks. i dont know if traeger has added this feature. a pellet grill will change everything for the better for smoking or grilling.

My Traeger has a serial number in the 800s, so that tells you how long they’ll last.
As previously mentioned TNT in Ankeny has a lot of stuff. I believe their pellet line is Green Mountain.

I have a really cheap electric smoker, and it doesn' smoke the wood chips at all. So I ended up buying a pellet tube off Amazon for $15. I've yet to try that out, but am hopefull it works well. Might be something to think about if the pellet smokers are a lot more $

If you are going to spend the money and want something that will last, Yoder is the only way to go. They are built to order, made in Yoder, KS USA and they have customer service second to none. Rec Tec, Traeger etc dont even compare to them in quality. Both are made overseas and it is noticeably apparent.

as one who has had both, traditionally nothing better than a charcoal smoker, however efficiencies with pellet smokers are good specifically cook time and temp control. I have had 4 different smokers and all have had goods and bads.
You need to decide if primarily you will be doing smoking or grilling.
If you are looking to do both, you may be disappointing with traditional taste with a pellet smoker.

I've had a traeger for a few years along with my weber smokey mountain and both perform well. My only advice is go big. If you begin to get into smoking you will want at some point to cook a lot and if you don't have the space you will regret it.

I have both the WSM and Traeger as well. Each have their own downfalls and benefits but I think owning both of them covers a lot of bases.

I've been looking into them as well. Thinking about getting a Pit Boss...they get pretty good reviews everywhere I've looked and are about half the price of a Traeger.
