Going to the Hockey game tonight. Is there a good place to park that I would have to pay. How far are the parking ramps from the stadium??

There are plenty of parking around the arena. Most are pay spots. I think the lot right across from Wells Fargo is the Hy-Vee Convention Center parking and it's like 5 bucks

There's some type of indoor racing thing at Vet's Auditorium going on tonight too, so parking will be tighter than normal but it still isn't that big a deal.

Normally onstreet and city ramps are free on the weekends however, you can't always be sure when there are events going on. I would guess there would be no charge tonight. Here's a link to downtown maps. Hit the link and then find the parking map: Maps - Downtown Des Moines

If you want a ramp, the closest ramps that are on the skywalk, check out the ramps marked as #2 and #3.

We usually go out on Court Ave after events at Wells Fargo, so we always park down there and just walk. You can hit the skywalk at the Court Ave Brewery and take it all the way to the Well.

Oh...if you do end up parking in the Court Ave area, there areramps at both 3rd and Court and at 5th and Court. It doesn't seem to matter how crazy the crowds are downtown on the weekends, I can always seem to find parking spots quickly in the ramp on 5th and Court.

Both ramps are hooked to the skywalk.

There is street parking available right outside of Inplay which is just down the street from Wells. If you are heading down early you might be able to find a place ther.

I always park immediately north and next to WFA. It's $6 and a short walk.

You are in for a treat tonight. The game last night was brutal, there was a near bench clearing brawl late in the 3rd period. There is a very hostile tone set for the game tonight. Keep an eye on Fitzgerald for Manitoba. He's the guy with the bullseye on his back after he cheap-shotted Trevelyan with a center ice hit that dropped him on his stomach.

Park in the libary parking lot..always works!

The old library (now vacant) off of 2nd, not the new one.

Related: does anyone else scratch there head a bit when you hear people complain about parking being difficult or hard to find in downtown Des Moines? I just never have any trouble. Granted, I may have to walk a few blocks, but what do you expect when you're going into a downtown area?

I"m sure the county appreciates the donation, but I just can't justify paying $6 for parking in the Iowa Events Center parking lot when you can find so many free parking options a few blocks away. Maybe I'm just a cheapas$$.
