Ok. So, I realize that there are a lot of threads already covering this. So, merge to an applicable one if need be.

So, I've decided I'm doing this. I got everything, including the pull-up bar that is supposed to do in the doorway. However, the molding in all of my old doors here are too big, and does not fit. I have checked the basement, to see if there are any other options, but there aren't.

Has anybody done the resistance bands. And, if so, do you feel that is an adequate replacement to the pull-up bar. I'm kinda annoyed by this. I ended up getting two different bars. One didn't even come close to fitting, and the other was just short by about a half an inch or so (that's what she said). Just curious to see if it's worth it to get the resistance bands, or if I am going to need to find a way to do the pull-ups elsewhere...

Resistance bands would work but not as well. It would take a pretty resistant resistance band to equal the weight of our body. If you have no other option I would go with the resistance bands, it should be ok.

I started with resistance bands as a replacement for pull-ups, they are ok, and I think with the right band it'd be adequate, but I eventually did switch to a bar. I'd say if there just isn't a place for a bar find a band that works and go with it, it'll be much better than nothing.

The biggest opinion I've formed after reading about these programs, is that I think I'd prefer the Insanity workout for one major reason: no equipment required. It's going to be a few more months until I can do it but that's the route I plan to go.

I have to say that p90x guy is just as annoying.
Oh man no way, Tony has some groaners for sure, but that Insanity guy is non-stop. I've only seen him in the Hip-Hop Abs videos, so maybe he's different in Insanity?

I've never seen Hip-Hop Abs, but I don't find him that bad in Insanity.

Speaking of which, today was my first day of the max portion of of the program, day 36. Holy **** it was hard, I don't feel the first 5 weeks did anything for me at this point. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me it gets better. I started at 190 lbs. 5 weeks ago and I'm down to about 180, I haven't been following the meal plan at all.

Check out ebay. there are lots of wall and ceiling mounted pull up bars there. Ours is wall mounted and works pretty well.

This could be a lot of it honestly, depending on what your diet is like. A lot of people do say they see their biggest losses in phase 3. I saw my biggest loss in phase 1 but I completely changed my diet when I started, not according to the meal plan, just cutting out the crap foods and snacking.

Although considering you weren't really "overweight" to begin with I'd say 2 pounds a week is good progress. I was 240 to start, down to 200 now, so I had a lot more to lose to start with than you did.

Does the P90X chin-up bar that fits in the doorway damage the door or trim at all?

No, there is a little safety clip that slides behind the top door trim to keep contact with the actual trim minimal. However you need to do your pull ups safely and under control. If you jump and jerk there's no telling what might happen. Slow and controlled and you'll have no issues.

Mine would have but I put a dry wash cloth behind each side that would normally press against the door frame and it worked fine.
