Sports is so unpredictable and sometimes we put too much intangible into the outcomes, but... do we win last night's game if we had beaten Kansas State? I mean, did it actually matter 'that significantly' that we played with the 'sense of urgency, backs against the wall, squelch the doubters, must-win' type of performance? Or.... was it just basketball? Meaning, Shayok made the free throws we needed at the end and we didn't get that done last Saturday.

ISU is loaded with talent. But CSP is also trying to blended freshmen and transfers into his schemes. That takes time and, to your point, is aided by the crucible of competition. Knight said all one learns from losing is how to lose. But I never bought into that logic. Guys learn their limitations as do coaches in heated competitions. So yeah, ISU probably made adjustments and played better in Lubbock as a result of Saturday's loss. Plus, TxT and K-State are more alike than different.
Impossible to say, and as I mentioned before, we probably draw way too much of our opinions of a team from too small of sample sizes. The perception gap between a one point win and a one point loss is an absolute chasm. What's really relevant is the net compilation of many games and how they play out.
Hard to tell. But you could see from our first half play that Saturday’s loss didn’t sit well with our guys. Glad they bounced back
Saturday's game at KSU was a poor performance and I think CSP would have had this team's attention even if Babb had made the corner 3 or Wigg made his free throws (if either of those occurred, I think we would have pulled it off).
I agree with a couple of above posts, obviously impossible to say one way or another. One "coach speak" line that I've always thought held truth was that things are never as good as they seem when you win and things are never as bad as they seem when you lose. Easy to forget we are talking about (sometimes) 17 to early 20 years old guys. Many variables into getting them to focus and be consistent from game to game.
I think he's trying different things and establishing different points to the team and players, with the long term in mind.
