In the past, Canada gave us Gordon Lightfoot.

Me too. But while looking it up I saw S and G did it first and figured someone would bring it up.
And now for something completely different!
My father used to sing this. Often driving in the car. And rarely all the way through. Out of us 6 kids I'm sure I'm the only one that remembers it all the way through.
I think it was a college fraternity song back in the days. The lyrics were slightly different the way HE sang it but this is 97% the same.

Point of amusement: A group based in Phoenix does an ode to northern lights. It’s the music equivalent of the Suns franchise relocating to Alaska (where they’d be re-branded as the Jazz-Grizzlies, or somethin'-somethin').

I agree. For my money, there aren't a lot of songs better than "Dollar Bill".
