traipsing thru the treetops
You got me on a Dr. Hook mode.
Dr Hook - highly underrated, and FULL of great songs!

But how did we both manage to miss the obvious???

Well, we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go...

And I love the fact that they finally made it onto the cover. :D

Is this a cover of Garth, or did Garth cover these guys? Either way, I think this is one of the few times that I like both equally. :)
According to Wikipedia, The oak ridge boys did this song first 1978, new grass in 89 and Garth Brooks in 93. Ironically the entire New Grass band plays on the Garth Brooks single, of which I'm not familiar.

I heard a John Hurt song (Satisfied) on the radio this afternoon, and naturally I thought of Spike Driver Blues.

Someone passing through Mississippi in the late 1920's recorded John Hurt--songs that were released on Okeh records. He then lived in obscurity until the 1960's when some curious chronicler "discovered" him where he had always lived, after which he appeared in a number of folk festivals or college concerts for a few years until his death. One of the great old-time bluesmen.
