Don McLean, American Pie

Oh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned

Paul Simon, Still Crazy After All These Years

Now I sit by my window and I watch the cars
I fear I'll do some damage one fine day
But I would not be convicted by a jury of my peers

Let the Law take it from there, Earl walked right thru that restraining order and put her in intensive care.

It ain't fair, John Sinclair,
In the stir for breathing air.
Let him be, set him free,
Let him be like you and me.
They gave him ten for two,
what else can the judges do?

I saw them at least once, probably at Vets. An Iowa long-hair anthem from the 70's.
I think I saw Mason Proffit twice at ISU. Once in the fall of '71 and again in the fall of '72 at Hilton. As I recall, the Doobies Brothers was the opening act for Mason Proffit. This was about 6 months before the Doobie Brothers hit it big.

I was able to find mention of the Mason Proffit / Doobie Brothers concert on Sept 2,1972 in the link below

It's crazy no matter the topic there is usually a Barbara tune that fits. :)

Johnny Cash: Cocaine Blues

Early next mornin' 'bout a half past nine
I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Hopped and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said, "Come on you dirty heck into that district court"

Into the courtroom, my trial began
Where I was handled by 20 honest men
Just before the jury started out

I saw the little judge commence to look about
In about five minutes in walked the man
Holding the verdict in his right hand
The verdict read in the first degree
I hollered, "Lordy, Lordy, have mercy on me"

Bruce Springsteen: Working On The Highway

We lit out down to Florida, we got along alright
One day her brothers came and got her and they took me in a black-and-white
The prosecutor kept the promise that he made on that day
And the judge got mad and he put me straight away.
