This was my introduction to this song which I've always liked. I wonder who's singing there with ole' Ronnie.

The James Ray version, already posted, was apparently liked by many, including the Beatles.


I posted the James Ray version early in the thread. But this is actually the first version I remember being about 10 years old at the time. It was on the radio mid 60s.

Two from Superchunk. Similar intro riff, slightly different tempo, separate songs (for the most part … one might be a reworking of the other).

First one, titled “Like a Fool,” is lead-off track of the album titled “Foolish.”

Second track, titled “Foolish,” is on the compilation “Incidental Music 1991-95” (collection of B-sides & previously unreleased songs).

Make sense? :)
