Thoughts? I received what seems to be a pretty nice "gift certificate" in the mail. About 5 lbs worth of meat and other items for $50, delivered straight to the house. What do you know about the company?

Ten bucks a pound for meat it ought to be good. I have always thought there meat was just OK. About like buying the no name brand at the grocery freezer section.

I know now that they have your info they will call you and bug you to buy more steaks. That's why they don't get my business at all anymore. I was hesitant about patronizing a business in Nebraska anyways, and the telemarketing sealed the deal.

I did this when they were going door to door while I was in college. Great way to buy all the meat for a full season of tailgating. My roommates and I enjoyed the stuff.

We never had that... Of course, we paid cash and it wasn't through the mail. We also didn't have land-line phones.

I had to give my phone number when I ordered. My cell phone is my only phone, but that's what they called.

This is exactly what I don't want and would be the only reason I can see in not making the initial purchase.

I have had it a couple of different times. Steaks, dogs, hamburgers, twice baked potatoes, some kind of seafood. It's really good stuff, it's worth it every once in a while for something different. During the pork cook off challenge this year, can't remember who we played, but the pork producers had coolers all over from either omaha steaks or KC steaks.

For that price they are worth a try. For their normal steak price though, I've found you can do a lot bettter. If you are willing to drop a lot of money on mail order steaks, look for prime dry aged. I have a local meat cutter here who's steaks are at least as good as Omaha steaks at about half the price. And they are fresh, never frozen, cut from the full roast when you order it.

I've been given gift certificates to Omaha Steaks several times and each time we order product I say the same thing. It is quite possibly the most overrated food product ever. I'm glad i didn't spend my own money on these items.

It is expensive, but very good. Never had a bad steak from them. Normally I go to the local butcher and he will tell me which are his longest aged steaks that day.

Best meat ,without buying your beef still on hoof, is Fareway! Omaha Steaks, have had it for a gift a few years now...the filets each time......way over rated and felt bad they were spending the money them.

Fareway the best around if you have access to them.
