He is my 5 year olds favorite character, so it did what was intended.

Did it intend to ruin Star Wars as well? I'm all for getting children involved, but you don't have to make a character a complete goofball in order for kids to like it.

Jar Jar's only importance to the plot was in Attack of the Clones, when he is tricked into proposing to the Senate to give emergency powers to Palpatine. Otherwise, he was just in it for the kids.

Even though it had some faults, I really liked Revenge of the Sith for it's dark and desperate tone, much of the same aspects that make The Empire Strikes Back the greatest movie of all time.

As someone else mentioned, the ending of the Anakin/Obi Wan duel was horrible. I guess you could say OW was prepared for Anakin to jump over him since he did it to Darth Maul.... But my main thing is if it was such a big risk for Anakin, why didn't he just float further along the river bank before trying anything.

the problem is you can't make a movie like this for the fans of the old trilogy and for 5 year olds at the same time. He needed to pick one and honestly I think he picked both and wanted to make sure he could kick out some video games in the process (the pod race scene, the factory scene where c3po's head is put on wrong body, the lava jumping in the 3rd) and did both horribly. I also contend that the only reason some of you like III is that it connects well with the originals often leading to a GLIMPSE of the nostalgia we had all hoped was coming in these films. If the original trilogy didn't exist not only would these 3 movies including III be horrible, they would be unbearable.

Yeah, Lucas does some silly things at times. Introduces two characters: Darth Maul, one of the most unique and interesting villains in quite a while, and Jar Jar Binks, a silly floppy eared moron. Who does Lucas give way more screen time to? You guessed it: Jar Jar. Brilliant.

That said, Ep. 1 was not very good, Ep. 2 was ok, Ep. 3 was pretty good outside of Amidala's constant whining.

agree there, I would have LOVED to see a darker episode 1-3 focused on a Darth Maul character that maybe gets pushed out of the way by an ambitious Anakin.

Watching Star Wars on Spike right now and need others opinion. Who else thinks that Jar Jar Binks is completely unnecessary? I can't believe Lucas allowed "him" to be in the movie. It is an extreme character, who in my opinion, tries to add humor... when humor is not needed. Am I alone here?

i agree 100% but my kids love him. I would have thought they could have found someone or something more interesting.

Anger clouding judgment? Maybe.
