Are the 3 players suiting back up for Illinois Dee Brown, James Augustine, and Deron Williams?
ISU is ranked #4, has 3 All-Big 12 players, an All-American, one of the nation's best PG's, and one of the nation's best front courts. Have some confidence people! This isn't one of McDermott's teams.
Exactly. People were worried about the Chattanooga game and we won by 20.

Statistical Stuff:

  • ISU shot 57.8% from the field. Only one player shot under 50% — it was Niang (!); but he was 2-of-3 from 3.
  • Morris: 7 assists, 0 turnovers
  • Six players in double-figures
  • 61.9% from 3-point line. That won't happen every game, but 7 players hit at least one.
  • Nader double-double.
A few negatives from the stat-line, but I don’t feel like worrying about it right now.
Morris 17 ast 1 TO in last 2 games

Unless they credited it to somebody else Morris had a turnover in the first half.

Illinois on a neutral court will be tougher than Chattanooga was in Hilton. I guarantee it. And I realize Illinois is not a world beater and that we are a very good team.

Look at this year's Colorado game, last year's Alabama and South Carolina games, the year before's UNI (when they sucked), George Mason, and Boise State games, the year before's Drake game, and the year before's Providence game.

Early season neutral court games against decent opponents, even when we have superior talent rarely end in blowouts...it's not lack of confidence, it's common sense.

like on the first play, wasn't it? Threw it baseline and had it taken away, I thought.

Yeah it was pretty early when he drove baseline and instead of hitting somebody at the 3 point line he tried to no look it to Niang. Gottlieb talked about it.

Even in his interview he talks about Fred. Steve, this is your team now, act like it.
Maybe he just realizes how much this fanbase loves Hoiberg and the fact that the only reason he has the #4 team is because of him. It's a sign of respect so quit crying. I liked hearing that.

I think a lot of people still see this as CFH's team after all each of the players committed to Fred, the commentators last night referenced him multiple times.
Fran Frachillia had a good commentary in the Colorado game where he mentioned his experience taking over a NCAA tourney program with a lot of expectations for an established coach (Manhatten). He said the players could pretty much coach their team themselves early in the season and it took a couple close games where he made the critical play calls and player decisions where the team finally became his. This ISU team hasn't given Prohm the opportunity to make those calls yet, but it'll be coming and then we'll see him own the success and less Hoiberg homage.

He gets asked about taking over for Fred every time he's interviewed. He also knows that ISU fans have an intense love for Fred.

It's getting a little old but it's probably a smart thing.

Fran asked to come to ISU during preseason workouts, remember. It wouldn't surprise me one bit, having watched how Prohm has handled these guys, if he really took Frashilla's experience to heart.
