Because they are just talkin' stupid. You could talk specific depth and mention Burton etc but they are just stuck on "6".

Barring injuries we'll have 8 very good Big 12 players. Cooke's floor is a shooter you can't leave open and Burton's is a physical mismatch on offense. What teams other than KU are 9-12 deep with excellent Big 12 players? KU is only 9-10 deep until you get pretty untested.
