It could very well be the latter. My son is used to getting to the rim (ok, quite a ways under it) but in playing more competitive AAU, there are a lot more (good) bigs so he needs to pull up more - could be a parallel there with college centers vs. the monsters in the NBA. Nuggets beat write TJ McBride has tweeted about how much he likes MM's floater.

It's a tough shot - easy to shoot long but in the NBA it works for Monte.

Get him working on a little half hook in addition to the floater!

Quote from Coach Malone in NBA.com's game summary:

“Monte (Morris) had a lot to do with keeping us in the game,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone pointed out, praising Morris for “running our team, getting us into our offense, and making a play for someone else.”

Good Monte was back last night. I think that Coach Malone knows he belongs in the playoff rotation over IT and he has to find to strength to commit to it.

I've tried. His old man doesn't know anything, of course. (I'm a shooter and he finally is shooting a good J because he listened to me after a few years). He often has a mismatch in the lane vs. a smaller guard and he needs go-to moves. Off to two AAU tryouts today ...

I can't imagine too many players have gone from the Korean basketball league to the NBA. Glad this worked out for him.

Now someone needs to convince Matt Thomas to give it another shot once his Euro league contract is up.

Georges is such a positive dude and must be a great teammate. I wish he was getting some rotation minutes though. And I wonder if he'll have to look for another team next year.

3 Cyclones made it to the court last night in the Jazz-Thunder match-up. Only Nader played meaningful minutes in the Thunder's 98-89 wind. Nader had a line of 14 MIN, 3 PTS, 1-1 FG, 1 REB and 1 TO. Here's his 3 over J. Crowder:

Naz wasn't on the Jazz bench. Georges played 2 minutes and Burton got in the last minute, for the Thunder.

Wow - Fansided's Thunderous Intentions has a long article on Deonte Burton's BB journey from Marquette to signing an NBA contract. There are lots of embedded highlights. There are a few paragraphs on his time at ISU (although I think that they confuse Kansas' #2 national ranking with a #2 seed in the Big 12 tourney). It's nice that he's getting some attention. Personally, in his summer league time with the T'wolves after he left ISU, I thought he looked lost. The article should focus more on how he WORKED to improve his game but it's still a good read:

Watching the first quarter of the Nuggets - Timberwolves game on TNT and I have the following notes:

* The energy level picked up with Morris-Plumlee-Beasley coming off the bench. They immediately started moving the ball and the Nuggets' took the lead. They said that their bench had been hurting them but Monte and his guys looked phenomenal. Monte hit a long 3 and had a 2-pt buzzer beater for 5 pts in the quarter.

* Monte is playing against T. Jones, the only guy with a better assist to turnover ratio in the NBA.

* The T'wolves have UGLY purple uniforms. When did purple take over for dark blue for them?

* And Malone did NOT insert Isaiah Thomas as he had been, with Monte in the 1st quarter. Hmm.

Maybe the IT experiment is over? Murray subbed back in off the bench, where normally IT would have come in. Unless he's hurt?

Monte is looking awesome per usual.

TJ McBride seems to think that Malone has shortened the rotation so I don't think he's hurt. I don't know if the IT experiment is over but maybe it's on hold for tonight.
