With most of this team sticking around next year they better not take anything for granted. This team deserves it for being lazy and cocky and thinking talent and not caring would be enough to win.

"UAB is terrible. TERRIBLE."

If you truly believe that, you don't know squat about basketball. UAB was gutsy, hard-nosed, composed, and could score when it really counted. Take your "talent" and trade it for the above stated qualities.

Now I think I want Kentucky to just demolish everybody and get it over with. Can't believe I said that, but if it's not ISU in at least the Elite 8, they might as well make the whole thing look silly.

I like the posters who say they saw this coming all year. What the hell does that even mean? Are you not aware of all the games they won? So when they're beating Kansas, you're thinking "They might be beating Kansas, but they will lose in the first round of the tournament! All that hustle, points, and defense can only lead to bad things!"

Game was lost by rebounding and not boxing out which is sad. Unlike a lot of other problems, that's easily fixed by just playing your *** off. Dissapointed in not just the loss, but the way it happened.

Almost, but I say not quite as bad as Hampton. On that level though.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but I'm pretty sure you just answered your own question. We lost the game because of effort. Poor rebounding, little hustle. We've had several games this year where it seemed like we've overlooked opponents, come out flat, and lost. I'm guessing that's what they're referring to. How many times did we hear the team more or less admit that they overlooked a team after a loss or a close win? More than once.

I won't say I saw it coming, but I am also not shocked that it happened. I really hope it's not something that carries over into next season. We will have a veteran team next year, and I really hope Georges, Naz, Monte and McKay take it upon themselves to make sure we don't overlook anybody next year. That's what it takes to win a regular season conference championship and deal with being a high seed in the tournament. Win @ TTU and KSU this season and we win the conference.

Still a great season. Tough way to go out, but I'm happy with where our program is at and where it's headed. Being a high-seed year after year is a desirable position to be in, and getting upset on occasion is something that comes with the territory.

This one hurts, it cuts deep. Probably because we saw a first round exit coming but it still hurts.

Way to **** down your legs, boys.

Seriously, I'm supposed to go back to work for 3+ hours now. How am I supposed to do that?

Also, to all those who said we'd roll through this game, easy as pie, etc .... those who said UAB wasn't even going to film sessions because they knew they had no chance, etc .... take off, 'ya hosers.

I can honestly say that I expected to be able to watch guys like Edozie and Custer play today, I was that confident. That being written I would never suggest either the team or gans to ever disrespect the opponent. That's just openly begging for bad karma.

ESPN's Stats and Info. Department gave UAB a 10.6% chance to win today going by BPI. This is the biggest upset going by that measurement since Norfolk State beat Mizzou in '12.

Nah, they were pretty bad. Their offense was atrocious. They'd wait 25 seconds to put up a really bad shot. It would either go in or they would get the rebound. It was really ugly basketball. And how many times did they leave a guy on the 3 point line open? Naz had 3-4 shots where nobody was within 8 feet of him. He just couldn't knock them down.

This team handled success very poorly. Get top ten ranking, immediately lose.

Also, aside from three second halves last weekend we were a really really poor neutral court team.

I've been an ISU fan since the late 60's. I do not remember ever being more disappointed, surprised or this upset about a loss.........not even the one to Hampton. It's not that they lost the game.......it is that they lost the game without giving their best effort. That is the frustration.

This team seemed to let the hype go to their head or something......too often they just thought they could show up and they would win. Yet, even with several lessons this season that that simply was not the case, they never seemed to learn to put out a solid effort for 40 minutes.

I think you have it wrong. It isn't that we get cocky and let the hype get to our head and lose. We get hyped when we our in position to do something and feeling the hype and expectations of doing something special it seems we try too hard to "will it" when we need to chill and play our game. It will be a good learning experience for Niang and this team.

UAB shot 34.8 percent from the floor, the worst by a 14 or 15 seed in a win over a 2 or 3 seed.

UAB's 60-59 win over Iowa State is the second-most unlikely Round of 64 upset since the start of the 2012 NCAA Tournament, based on BPI's pre-tournament projections. The Blazers are ranked 134th in BPI, lower than FGCU, Harvard, Mercer or Duke were in their improbable wins.
[+]Biggest Round of 64 Upsets, 2012-2015

2015 UAB def. Iowa State
10.7*
2013 FGCU def. Georgetown

2013 Harvard def. New Mexico

2014 Mercer def. Duke

2012 Lehigh def. Duke

*UAB ranked 134th in BPI

UAB grabbed 19 offensive rebounds Thursday, tied for the most Iowa State has allowed in a game this season. Tyler Madison had nine offensive rebounds, as many as the Cyclones' entire team (9) and the most by any player in an NCAA Tournament game since Michigan State's Derrick Nix in 2013 (9 vs. Valparaiso).

JFC, how hard is it to get in front of a guy, put you body into him and BLOCK OUT?!?! The lack of fundamental Bull**** is maddening! I know that everyone on the team could kick my butt 1 on 1, BUT I know that I could at least get my body into someone when a shot goes up. That is someone that is completely controllable, and ISU failed miserably!
