OK ST 41

We are within 2 scores in the fourth, thus another week of hearing about all the improvement we are making.

Don't know if i have seen so much optimism about the Clones winning on here in awhile....i like it....

However,

I don't agree with it. Stillwater is a really tough place to play, and the Cyclones aren't as good as the Cowboys.

I think Okie St. wins, but I think I'm gonna put some money on ISU. I don't think Okie St. is that good. They played Florida St. tough that first week, but haven't faced anyone since. I think they totally overlook ISU and this game goes into the 4th qtr very close. I see OSU getting a score in the 4th to put it away, but still take ISU and the 17, and thank me later.
You're right. We're so looking past you guys to the Jayhawks next week.

I believe you said elsewhere on this board that OSU will be looking to use the ISU and KU games to get some backups and rarely used players some much needed experience/PT. Sure sounds like overconfidence to me.

I referred to a story written by a journalist who said that OSU "hoped" to use these two games to get the reserves some PT. I didn't say anyone on the team had stated that.

Gundy will not do any wholesale changes unless we have a 5 TD lead at the half, a 4 TD lead mid-way through the 3rd, or a 3 TD lead in the 4th. If we're up by a couple of TDs at the half, he may start spelling a starter here or there for a series, to rest them.

However, I doubt you guys are going to run 91 plays on offense, like Tech did, so our starters will not be as gassed late in the game.

Believe me, you have their full attention, and they aren't over confident. But also realize, that since you only put up 21 points on offense against Kansas State in Ames, 14 against NDSU at home, 20 against Iowa on the road, and only 21 against Baylor's 1st Team defense in Ames, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that if we score 35, we might start some substitutions, given that we're yet to score less than 40 at home this year.

Correction: Our offense only scored 37 against UTSA (six came on a pick-six at the end of the game. However, that's the same UTSA defense that held undefeated Arizona to 26 points. You know, the Arizona offense that ran all over #2 Oregon Thursday night?

But how is Oregon's defense? The same UTSA defense that gave up 41 to FAU, a team ranked 108 in scoring offense?

That's a fair point. But be aware that Larry Coker was Gundy's OC in college, so our coach took his foot off the gas in the second half. Fans were booing because we were running it up the gut so much late in the third and in the early fourth.

We could have attack their cornerbacks all night long and put up 500 yards passing. UTSA is very good against the run, which is why they stifled Arizona, but weak against the pass.

FAU's RB average 5.2 ypc against them. Everyone is a lot better with "ifs" and "buts".

There is no need to explain away some things and make Ok St look better than they are in the overall landscape of college football. They have more than enough talent to put a beat down on us, which is really all that matters.
