I have a very hard time believing that NFL Network offered to let Mediacom carry their channel "no strings attached". If they won't let other stations carry the broadcast (KCRG in Cedar Rapids, for instance), I don't see them giving it away to Mediacom.

I have no desire to pay for Mediacom carrying the station. This is the first time I've had any desire to watch anything on the station, and I don't see that changing in the future. Some cable carriers may be okay with it, but I can't agree with forcing these stations on the basic package. Same way I felt with the Big Ten Network, and same way I'd feel if a Big 12 Network existed.

Then don't complain about the situation... I have AT&T cable and really love the NFL Network. I've been able to see every televised ISU game with no problems. Blame your provider, not the network. If it was on Fox ESPN2 and the cable network dropped the station would you be upset with ESPN or with your provider?

I haven't complained about the situation, ever. I'm perfectly happy going to a friends house and watching it on a bigger TV. I'm just sick of people blaming Mediacom for everything.

Ok this might be a little bit off topic, but I hated how the NFL network did not show how much time was left on the play clock. I also do not remember seeing the downs and yards. Overall, not to bad thou, they only called us Iowa once, and actually called us Ohio State once. lol!

Play clock was shown anytime it got to 10 seconds and below.

Down and distance was shown as a graphic on the field before most plays.

I didn't care for the fact that they focused on the NFL at halftime and after the game. If I were the Insight Bowl, I wouldn't sign with them again. I did like the little score thingy at the top of the screen. Simple, not distracting.

I missed both of those. Overall, I thought they did a pretty good job. With Paul Burmeister being an Iowa native and former Hawk player, I'd expect him to be able to handle it, and he did. The only thing I noticed that bugged me was he would occasionally refer to us when he meant to say Minnesota or vice versa, but even that wasn't too bad.

There were other minor things I noticed that I could nitpick on, but they really happen in almost any college football broadcast that doesn't involve a Top 10 team that everyone knows.

Yeah, I did think this too. They did nothing in the way of pregame and barely even acknowledged the game at halftime and postgame. It was almost like the game was just interrupting an episode of NFL Total Access. I guess I can understand why they wouldn't talk about it too much as it's a network devoted to the NFL and not college football, but then that begs the question why NFL Network is even broadcasting the game to begin with. I think it's purely to get people to watch the network who wouldn't normally watch it otherwise.

Anyone else think that they gave Minnesota credit a lot more quickly then they would give the Clones credit? That's how it felt to me.

I felt the exact same way...it was not good sports entertainment. Now I hate the ESPN monoply just as much as everyone else, but this just shows the night/day entertainment broadcasting that ESPN is able to produce over everyone else. Seriously, if you have a game on...you talk about that instead of old NFL news that has been told and retold. They took advantage of none of the perks that come with broadcasting a college football bowl. And, like you said, begs the question of why they would want it in the first place. I am especially angry at the lack of pregame and postgame. They rush off like they have another game to get to! I was furious.

NFL Network = FAIL in broadcasting college sports.
