Damn proud of the team tonight!!!!

Btw...I loved the comments between GMac and the Kansas State fan...something like, "you might make a better ref than a coach" outa the K-State fan, to which McDermott responded, "I'd be better than these guys"...

Way to go fellas and Coach Mac! A lot of teams that have had this frustrating of a season would have quit a long time ago.

This is one of those wins you always dream about during bad years but never seem to actually get. The best part is this one will be replayed all night on ESPN, unlike the Nebraska football game when the Huskers weren't ranked.

Not to be a debbie-downer, but we were/are 11th (yes, I know tied for 9th) in the big 12, can't get much lower so I would say they are pretty safe calling us "lowly"...:confused:

Quote of the night was when the TV guy said that GMac and a guy in the front row were jawing back and forth... Don't remember it word for word but he said it went something like this:

KSU Fan: Hey coach, you would make a better ref than coach.
GMac: I'd be better than these guys...

One time, Coach Mac was visiting an elementary school. He walked into a room full of obnoxious 5th graders, and one of them yelled, "I'm a Hawkeye!!!" Without missing a beat, Coach said, "That must be why you're sitting in the back!"

He's quick on the draw.
 
How are all of you celebrating tonight?
Very happy for Brackins and co. For all the **** we've given this team we have to admit they've gotten some horrible breaks and continued to work hard.
 
I'll tell you what kind of got lost in all this with the general euphoria having beaten a top 5 team on the road, is the fact that K-State had ALOT to play for. Senior night, figting for a one seed, they had alot of reasons to really want to win that game.
 
Digger Phelps on ESPN: "Iowa State says this is our Super Bowl, let's get it done." Ugh.

This doesn't erase the heartache from this season but it sure makes it a little better. I am very proud of our team and staff, they never gave up and never stopped fighting and deserve this more than anything in the world!!!

Maybe this will convince Brackins and Gilstrap to stay one more year and finish what they started tonight.....
