Could be worse. We could have taken a knee on 4th down there.

Could have gotten the first down, fumbled untouched, only to recover the fumble, but behind the sticks to still turn it over on downs.

-Purdy's last play.

I don't want to ever hear anyone ripping on our OC ever again. We've changed them several times now under CMC... same results. This is all on Matt folks. When he just promoted Nate... we all should have known nothing was changing.

Did you see how happy Matt was to go shake hands with KF? Ticks me off. He's thrilled that his kids fought to the end and almost made it a game at the end... mark it down.
To bad his horrible clock management made that task impossible.

I truly don't think CMC is smart enough.
I don’t think Matt is a bad guy at all, but he’s a politician. Great speaker, not so great making adjustments and running things on the field. He was beyond blessed to have Purdy and Hall and a couple really amazing defensive players. He hasn’t built off of those seasons.

Yeah, they were happy to give us that 9 minute run up the middle drive we used to make it a one score game.

If they didn’t have the pick 6 it’s probably still the same one score game.

Scoring on that first missed FG drive and not giving up Pick 6 combined could have won it or made a truly close game but that’s too many “ifs”.

The 1/2 dozen dropped passes were marquee in this loss.

If it was a true Iowa State moment, we would have busted that play open. Player gets to the 1 yard line and stops, turns around, and throws the ball causing a fumble and Iowa to recover. So yeah, could have been worse.

It’s hard to put it on Rocco too, he didn’t play horribly for just second game.

Too many drops and nobody breaking into open space for any big plays.

FWIW he looked like more of a gamer than Hunter did most of the time. Seems like we found ourselves in this situation in half of the games last year.

JFC.

Campbell. NS. Truly, truly dumb play calling by you. What in the literal **** are you doing on 3rd and 1, calling a quick out to the short side of the field. Get your ****ing team under center and run the ****ing ball for a goddamn 1st down.

JFC. Ya just just can’t make up how dumb of a play calling unit we have. Year after ****ing year.

4th down, yeah let’s go in shotgun and run a slow developing run up the gut against a stacked box.

We simply do not have D1 level play callers/schemers under CMC, starting with him.
And Campbell refuses to fix it. I just don't get it.

They aren’t gonna become world beaters during the year. These were two VERY mediocre teams going at, and there wasn’t really anything to indicate the offense is gonna be anything other than below-average at best, so unless the Big XII is really terrible, what do you expect?

Do you think ISU was good in 2020?

The whole year? 2018?

I actually laughed at the last play. It pissed me off but it was so indicative of the 2nd half and especially the last 2 drives. No urgency. No will to win the game.

Yeah, the second year of disappointment is very different than year one, I laughed too. I don’t even think of Purdy’s senior year as a disappointment because historically it’s still one of our better years.

I don't know why he thinks we have unlimited possessions. That first drive of the second half you have to have some new wrinkle to show them and we did nothing.

Entire 1st half was a joke. The dramatic conservatism doesn't stop mistakes. You are never going to okay a mistake free game and that's what he expects the offense to do.

It's college football, you have to score sone points.

I literally was thinking in my head "they are just going to run up the middle, aren't they". Most predictable play of the day and there were a lot of predictable plays.

We pay these losers tens of millions of dollars to embarrass themselves and us by extension every year. I’m so sick of being a punching bag and a joke to every other college football program

Did you ever see the movie about 1990s Iowa State football?
