Two games is a pretty small sample size. If I am this staff, I pivot my recruiting focus for the 2021/22 season.

The common recruit names being thrown around are:
  • Jayden Nunn (PG- 6'4")
  • Hunter Sallis (CG - 6'5")
  • Aiden Applewhite (SF - 6'7" & 195lbs? or 230lbs)
  • Drew Williams (SF - 6'7" & 210lbs)
  • Chris Payton (PF - 6'7" & 200lbs)
Individually, all the players seem like good gets. And Sallis is such a high level recruit, a coach would never say no if he wants to come to your school (unless there are fit issues).

However, in building a team that can compete in the Big 12 Conference AND earn an NCAA Tournament berth, based on ISU's first two games, I don't see the potential for an NCAA Tournament team without talent influx at the 4/5 positions.
  • Maybe Foster will be an above average Big12 level 4/5, but it is too soon to tell.
  • I haven't seen development from Condit over last year. So the question is has he maximized his ability and is a 5-10mpg guy for his senior year?
  • Young is a Big12 post, buy even though he could come back to ISU next year, would he? He might want to move on from college hoops or even if he wants to play another year would he academically and athletically want to do it somewhere else?
  • Hinson has the size to be a 4, but he is back home in Florida. Announcers said he will be back on campus this spring, but is the staff 100% he will be on the 2021/22 roster?
Realistically, we need more depth at the 4/5 positions. From what I have seen Dubar could play the 4. But I think on an NCAA Tournament team his best position might be as SF.

From a recruit standpoint, Chris Payton could pair with Xavier Foster. But that assumes Foster will be a high level Big12 player.

Seems to be the ideal class for ISU would be:
  • Hunter (PG)
  • Small Ball 4 (aka Payton or Williams or Applewhite)
  • Post with Attitude (Rim Protector)
I would go this direction even with Hinson coming back as he can play the 3 or 4 positions. With Hinson back my recruiting would shift toward Applewhite or Williams vs. Payton.

At some point Prohm has to move on from recruiting guards and wings. We already have: Hunter (CG), Harris (CG), Bolton (CG), Walker (CG), Jackson (CG), Johnson(2/3) and Blackwell(2/3) on the roster.

Add to that Dubar (3) & Hinson (3/4), Foster (4/5) and Condit (5)

I think Payton has to be the #1 option at this point. He is only 6'7 but he is a true post and has elite level athleticism and foot work. The next open spot should go to a transfer. If not a transfer I hope Nunn is a take. Tyrese Hunter won't be in Ames more than 2 years and Nunn is a pure PG that will be a very good college player. He is regarded by many as the best player in Michigan regardless of ranking.

I understand that idea. But Prohm already has guys who can play PG or shooting guard on the roster for the 2021/22 season in: Hunter, Bolton, Walker, Jackson and Harris.

Nunn might be better than any of those guys, but is he a guy who can make ISU an NCAA Tournament team next season? Could ISU put a roster of guards on the court and be high-level if we don't have a post game? IMO recruiting is a #'s game so I recruit 2 guys who play 4/5 in hope that one guy can play 30mpg in 21/22 season.

Not going to lie to you but a 6’7 athletic true post sounds a lot like solo.
