I was wondering if he was considering that. I have read that there are several top guys that might go pro instead of play college in the 20 class.

They would be dumb not to. If they go to college and are not that good. They never get paid. If they go to China and sign a million dollar contract based on potential and are not that good, they still make a million bucks.

Yeah, a million dollars with no back up plan... Not ideal IMO. Lets not pretend that one million dollars is life changing money, especially when we are talking about an 18 year old kid who is probably just going to blow it.

You can't just say they all have no back up plan. That is a big assumption.

What?
A million dollars would be a hell of a better back-up plan than attending college for one year.

They can obtain a degree later if basketball doesn’t work out. I’d say most need the college environment to add value to their basketball resume, but if any player able to extract near a million, it’s not foolish to leave.

A million dolllars can be life changing to a kid from the inner city. Would he blow it? Probably but it's also a Million dollars. What would one year of college do for him? Nothing. Not one thing. So why not go live life a little, go to China, get a million dollars.

Heck my son graduated with a 3.8 GPA from high school and joined the Marines. He didn't have to. He did it for the adventure. He can always go back to school when it's over and he won't even have a million dollars.

This is pretty specific to Jalen Suggs and a back-up plan but can't he go back to school on a football scholarship if the playing in China thing doesn't work out?

Right. The preps that have the option to get big money oversea's for a year almost always are drafted in the NBA the following year and get another 4 years of pro salary.
Really it comes down to a decision to play in the states and get the national attention for free or going overseas and bank a year of salary without the homeland fanfare. Add in the injury risk and we will see more kids try playing overseas. That is until they can go to the NBA right out of High School which I think we'll see in the new NBA collective bargaining agreement.

Well see how active ISU will be with Terry's recruitment but it looks like he'll be waiting to the spring to commit so the staff may get some time evaluate their needs and chances.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/signing-week-preview-top-available-point-guards

"Whose involved?: Terry recently broke off a commitment to Michigan State and has seen Louisville, LSU, Mississippi and Oregon among others jump in.
The latest: Since opening his recruitment, Terry has already visited LSU and he'll see Louisville this weekend. Oregon and Ole Miss should get visits as well and there is no rush to make a decision. Look for his recruitment to last into the winter and things look pretty wide open at this point."
