Which is probably why his visit is unofficial. Unofficial Ben pays for [most of?] it vs official ISU would pay the bills.

I assume the only reason is it an unofficial is distance. He has been to ISU and Minnesota multiple times and is with in driving distance for both campuses. I assume his other 4 OV's will involve flights, car rental etc which will be paid by those schools.
He can keep his 5 OV for which each the schools he chooses to see a game in person.

I don't think ISU is a favorite for Ben (Stanford or X IMO) but, I doubt the staff would invite him to campus for the normal 2 day visit but only as an unofficial, it doesn't cost very much in the grand scheme of thing to the Athletic Department.

I mean they know they're not getting him
I'm not saying you are wrong, but why would Carlson want to spend 2 days visiting a school if he knows for sure that he's not going there? Especially an unpaid visit, so its not like he gets free tickets to the football game and other perks that come with an official visit. Like, what is the benefit to him?

He's been here a million times. It would make sense to have other schools as his officials.

Because kids can transfer down the road and you don't want to burn any bridges.

Um same reason I visited schools in high school I had no intention of going to. I was in high school and got to go hang out at a college with girls. That's why.

That's why Iowa State still takes his visit. I asked why Carlson would still want to take 2 days to come down here, and pay his own way, if he's not considering Iowa State. Him not visitnig wouldn't burn any bridges on his end.

Corey Evans gives his opinion on ISU's recruiting outlook question on Wednesday leftovers.

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals...eftovers-dishing-on-unc-iowa-state-texas-tech

"Iowa State has been rather silent this recruiting cycle, but there is not as big of a need compared to prior years. Prentiss Nixon and Michael Jacobson will each graduate and there is a chance that sophomore guard Tyrese Haliburton gives the NBA a shot after this season.

Jaden Walker and Ty Berry are two in the backcourt that Steve Prohm’s staff has had their eyes on. Northwestern may be out in front for Berry, but Walker is expected to visit Ames next month. Selton Miguel just visited USF over the weekend, but not many others have recruited him longer than the Cyclones. The same can be said for top in-state prospect Xavier Foster, who is down to a final four. The perception is that Foster will not leave the state, which would pit ISU against Iowa for him. Chris Moore and Ben Carlson are two other Rivals150 prospects that the Cyclones continue to monitor, and the latter will visit the Big 12 program the last weekend of September.

There is no sure-fire commitment on Iowa State’s board, but looking back at what Prohm has achieved during his time in Ames, he has never been one to struggle with enrolling top- flight talent, whether it has been via the high school, junior college or transfer realms."

No mention of Dudley Blackwell? I thought we were the front runners and that he was visiting this fall again.

I wonder how Foster's visit went? I saw him in the stands with the other players.
\

Randy was keeping an eye on XF during the game.

@RandyPete Xavier Foster (heard of him?) looks to be having a blast, hanging with the #cyclones basketball players in the first three rows of the student section. Just saying . . . .

ISU made the Top 7 for Jaylin Williams.

A 6-foot-10 center that can score inside and out, Williams has the chance to immediately impact a high-major program next season. Where he does so remain up for debate but it will be at Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M or UConn.

Are we a leader or does he have some
Leaders right now? Not leaders he says but expert prediction type leaders?
