I have been hearing from the Indian Hills fans I work with that they are very high on their new PG and they all think he will be their next can't miss D1 prospect. Anyone know if the staff is aware of him or are maybe planning on taking a look to fill a spot on next year's team?

I see Tyler Sash's older bro is an assistant coach for Indian Hills basketball now. Weird.

Looking at Indian Hills' roster, I still want Ernst to come back.

I thin kmany of us have wondered if he wasn't placed there to sharpen his game to potentially come back. It'll be interesting to see if we do go back after him.

He's not going to come back to ISU. We took him as a flier when we needed a practice body and nobody else wanted him. I think some people see broad shoulders and expect him to be something he's not but there's a reason we kept Carter (who probably won't be in the rotation this year) and not Ernst

I know you're probably right, and I should believe all this, but something (and someone) told me that felt Ernst had potential and a chance to play at ISU. Guess we should just wait and see what he does the next two years at Indian Hills.

Could be wrong, but isn't Stokes getting recruited by Memphis? Them adding a '17 PF is good for us!

EDIT: NVM I mixed up him and the other 2018-2019 recruits that Stansbury talked about on the OTT Podcast this week. He is from Memphis but Memphis doesn't look like they are in contention much.

Just a matter of opinion but I think theres some value in Ernst. Looked much better than Carter in the garbage-time minutes he played at the beginning of the season. I'll predict that he'll get a couple power 5 offers (although this whole situation screams UNI).

I think it was a difference in ceilings.

They had their choice to keep Carter or Ernst and kept Carter

If Ernst goes for something like 16 and 10 then I could see us wanting him back, but I think it's more likely he goes for 6 and 5 and is a Fran recruit.

I will gladly eat my words if this happens, but Ernsts' ceiling is probably UNI. He will not go down to IHCC and all of the sudden become a stud. As some have said on here before, we took him to fill the roster out and add another big practice body. If he would have progressed it would have been a surprise and a plus, obviously, but after losing our 3 main front-court guys and the staff feeling they had to go out and get 2 grad transfers, it shows you what they thought of his abilities this year. Can he progress and end up coming back to ISU? Yeah, I guess that isn't impossible. But I would guess he ends up going to a mid-major(UNI, Milwaukee, SDSU, or maybe a St. Louis) and having a decent career.

I really don't understand some fan's infatuation with Ernst. A player that played a handful of minutes last year who never showed he was that talented. ISU was his only offer and it was because they took a chance because they needed bodies. Is it just because he is from Iowa? That is the only thing I can think of. It is like clamoring for Clayton Custer to come back.

I think we would take 6. Somebody is going to transfer. Not being a Debbie downer but somebody always transfers it seems. So we could take 6 high school. Then go after a senior transfer or a Juco that we like. Or we could end up with 6 really good freshman and have nobody transfer and just whip teams next year.
