This was the one game I was going to make it to Hilton for, but 8+ inches of snow in KC mean I have to head back a day early. Still hoping to catch this one by the time I’m back!

Went down some rabbit holes this morning and found this gem from 40 years ago. So much nostalgia! Barry Stevens final home game. A freshman Jeff Grayer. Jeff hornacek at the other guard spot. The uniforms. The BIG 8. Gary Wade on PA. No 3 point line. And I had no idea they used to play the 1st rounds of conference tourney on home sites.

I’m no big basketball expert but I think this BU team is way better than #25 and barely cracking the rankings.

Getting housed by Gonzaga two months ago and then losing to two ranked teams probably set their street cred back.

I'd guess if it's a back and forth game there will be a few 'if this team wants to get to a Final Four they can't be in a tight game with a team that lost to Zaga by 40!' takes.

I like Raftery on the call.

The guy has been around the game a long time and is still relevant. He of course has his quirks but it’s not hacky.

As a player, he scored more points in New Jersey High School than Kyrie Irving. And was retroactively given the honor of Mr. Basketball USA for 1959.

The people before him?

Wilt Chamberlain 1955
Oscar Robinson 1956
Jerry Lucas x 2 1957-1958

I’ll call him Billy Buckets

I like him way more than Dicky V or even Jay Bilis. Raft still analyzes the game with relevancy, where as the other 2 get sidetracked easily with their sticks and entertainment or hop on the soapbox of their preferred topics and forget there is a game being played.

The problem I have with Baylor is I have no idea which team we are going to get. Are we going to get Baylor when they played Gonzaga or Tennessee? Or Baylor that played Arkansas or Uconn?

Probably the most recent. The Gonzaga game is two months ago.

anyone know if Hilton lets you bring in autograph-able items? (like a basketball)

have one with Fizer, Hoiberg, Sullivan and Niang's signatures add would love to add a couple more if I see any of the 2000 roster around Hilton

Gilbert has owned Cryer. (Apologies, Cryer plays fot Houston.)
Revision: Gilbert will own Roach. ;)
Their talented freshmen haven't been to Hilton.
Drew uses all his time outs early in both halves.
Cyclones jump on them early and get up double digits, but the Bears hang around until late.
ISU makes fts at the end to keep arms length.
Cyclones 85, Bears 77.

Cryer is on Houston, now, but you’re right, Gilbert owned him last year and he has never been particularly good against ISU.

Good to get back in Hilton against a good opponent. Feels like the team is going to be really dialed in today.

Crap, that's right! Thanks for the correction. Guess Gilbert (or Lipsey) will have to shut down Roach instead!
