Reds blown lead in the 9th against the Cardinals.

Ditto for today. This is getting old, as we struggle to score runs against scrubs the Brewers are throwing out there. Looking more and more like it's the Cardinals' year. Sigh...

Frankly, if we waste opportunities like that whatever happens regarding the playoffs is squarely on the Cubs. They've had their chances and have not come through. They really needed these two games to keep pace with the Cardinals, and wasted them. Kimbrel getting taken deep by Yelich just adds insult to injury.

I'm beginning to think this team is missing player leadership. Can't put my finger on it, but I'm reading The Captain's Class, the leadership book CMC had Purdy and also Haliburton read (there was an article on this over the summer). Their researched-based theory puts a lot of weight on player (captain) leadership. Not the most talented guys, but "glue" guys with guts and heart. We had it when Ross was on the team. Since.....?

The Cardinals seem to be getting it lately from Molina, that much seems obvious.

"It's hard to win when you don't score any runs"....LOL.

Kimbrel should have had a performance-based contract....and do not underestimate the toxicity of some of these contracts.

Not sure why Maddon trotted out the lineup he did today after just getting shutout.

Lets look at the positive - clearly this team is so damn talented they can beat the best pitchers in the league, but have a hard time adjusting to the shaky ones.

Yeah give three of your regulars days off was silly. I get Rizzo coming off injury, and I was ok with Happ I guess, but starting Almora who's fresh of a sub par performance in Des Moines?

Threatening to score most of the game and get nada. Then of course Mariners score and we trail.

Great move Joe, Hendricks only around 80 pitches and you pull him with 2 outs and no one on for a weak ground out to 2B by Happ. Hendricks could have done that and saved the bullpen for at least another inning

Correct. It didn't. 24 scoreless innings and counting. This may not just be Maddon (convinced it isn't) but this kind of stuff doesn't bode well for his return next year.

Players gotta do their part too I agree but his lineup yesterday was rather odd too. Team is so flawed offensively and having a repeat of last year's melt down the way things are going right now
