Just last year, Purdue and Houston had 5 losses as a 1 seed, North Carolina 8. 5-7 losses gets you in 1 seed territory if you're playing a tough non-conference and conference schedule like Iowa State has and will.
In terms of home losses, they can very well sweep the home slate but I'm just throwing the possibility of 1 loss out there because **** happens and when you play in a tough conference you have to plan for 1 home loss potentially happening.
I never said it's ok to lose the game, I said it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme. I don't think you realize how hard it is to win on the road in conference play, there are going to be some losses along the way, it doesn't mean that the sky is falling. I'm just saying that there's no reason to get overly upset about the loss, not that losing is ok and should be acceptable. They probably should have beat WVU but that's a tough game and place to win so I'm not overly surprised that they did. This is a very good team but this isn't a 2024 UConn level team so there are going to be a few hiccups along the way.
In any event, I take this team up against anybody on a neutral court so as long as they stay the course and stay on track for a top conference seed, they'll be fine.
Thanks for the reply, appreciate the engagement.
Your initial post made says "no reason to get upset about this loss." I agree that in the grand scheme of life/happiness/etc. yes - no reason to get upset about any loss in a sports game. But I think it is pretty natural for fans to be frustrated with
how the team played on Saturday. I see very little of fans claiming the sky is falling. Do you have any examples where you feel that fans are expressing "sky is falling" energy? I do Block/Ignore a lot of negative posters, so perhaps I am glossing over those folks
What about what I have posted makes it seem that I "
do not realize how hard it is to win on the road"? I have been a diehard fan for 3+ decades - I have seen us lose what feels like thousand road games in my lifetime

- some of them absolutely gut wrenching. Of course it is extremely hard to win on the road. Especially in a conference as challenging as the Big 12. Whoever wins this conference though will have to win
most of their road games. Yes, as difficult as that is,
that will be required of the regular season champ. And I consider Iowa State to be one of the contenders to do it, and likely it is just us or Houston. The Texas Tech game and the WVA game were REALLY hard road contests, and truthfully, I still expected to win both of them. I expect to compete for wins at Houston, KU, and AZ also, which I believe will be
even harder than Texas Tech or @ WVA.
As my previous posts have suggested - I too would take this team up against anybody on a neutral court. I think this quad has the goal to win a regular season title. I think they are that good, and I think that they believe they are that good.
