Actually, I'm pretty sure that one of his trips last year went uncalled. I want to say that it was the Florida St game.

If this is what you are talking about, you may be right. The play does seem to continue after the guy that got tripped made a good pass. Regardless, I don't think holding this play against Grayson is legit. You can't tell me he 100% wanted to trip that guy. He has his head up looking at the ball.

So if you get three chop block penalties in college football, how long is the suspension? If you get three tripping penalties in hockey, what's the suspension? How long is the suspension for three flagrant fouls (contact to the head) in basketball?

That first one could barely be seen as tripping. That play, or at least sort of play, happens 5 times a game.

This is a big deal because this is about the current hated Duke basketball player. If this were Matt Thomas, it wouldn't be near the story if it were even a story at all.

Grayson doesn't even deserve to be lumped into the same category as past hated Duke players. I hate that people even compare him to Hurley or Laettner just becuase he is a disliked Duke white player. Those guys were hated because they played with an edge and were good at getting under the opponents skin, not to mention they backed it up with their game. Allen is hated because he's an eff'ing dirt ball. Yeah, he's a talented player but between the cheap shots, flopping, and trips he's a disgrace to the game. There's a huge difference between playing physical and playing dirty and Grayson is the latter.

That's just how good he is at tripping people.

If it happens once, then yeah i'll give him the benefit of the doubt but 3 times...that's a serious issue. That play last night had the potential to be pretty scary since the guy was coming down and was completely exposed. Luckily nothing serious happened but eventually somebody is going to get seriously hurt.

Are we sure this guy is mentally stable? I'm not joking, this looks scary as hell

Seems like the type that's always close to falling apart and maybe has some sort of undiagnosed behavioral disorder.

His initial reaction after the trip last night was to look down at his widespread hands like his foot didn't go directly out to another players' leg.

It's a player safety issue. The NHL and NFL both suspend players for player safety penalties.

I really don't think plays like that first one happen 5 times a game. People don't play defense like that.

The problem with saying it's only about hate for Duke is that folks like Vitale and Bilas think they're dirty plays. They aren't Duke haters.

I'm going to go ahead and not equate what Allen has done with what Burfict has done. tripping someone and hitting people in the head are not the same. I just don't see the difference between this and clean fouls in the air.

I don't really even disagree with the suspension. I disagree with all of the stupid takes and how this has been covered. It really isn't that big of a deal. No one got hurt. There was no real danger of someone getting hurt, let alone seriously hurt. Bilas has also turned into a real sanctimonious douche too so I don't really care what he says even though I wouldn't disagree these things are somewhat dirty.

....unrelated question, do you walk around staring at your feet so you know where they are?
Unrelated answer... if I wanted to trip someone, I would look where their feet are so that I can make contact with them.

In the Elon game, Grayson was beat back to the inside and fell off balance. The trip was the result of his defensive lapse, and like a corner back in football pulling a guy down to save a sure TD. Grayson tripped the guy to keep him from scoring a layup.

I just went back and watched it again. That's a good comparison. It's not an attempt at injuring the guy. He is just fouling him to prevent an easy basket. It may be intentional, but there are a lot of fouls that are intentional, whether they are called that way or not.

I hope takes like this are trolling and not serious. The meltdown by liberal America over this is sad...

Wut?

I work in a field where there are certain behavioral patterns that take place and are often diagnosed in the realm of behavioral disorders. Nothing 'liberal' or really even political about it.

I could care less about what happens to the kid--he's quite possibly just spoiled out of his mind and hasn't heard the word 'No' very much in his life. But 'any' media is going to give some attention to a high profile player, from a high profile basketball school, who repeatedly, deliberately, purposely causes potential harm to others.

I think he should be suspended for at least two games, ordered to seek counseling, and if he does it again kicked off the team.
