I remember back in the good old days of Earle Bruce, we had a corner named Mike Clemons. Clem was a little slow but fundamentally solid. Solid tackler. And he played the same speed in pads as without pads. I think he was a 3 year starter and his last year was the '78 season as he graduated in 1979. Speed with fundamentals is obviously better. But Clemons rarely missed a tackle unlike our CB's this year. Although we seemed to be better than last year. I really miss Nik Moser.

No matter how much people talked about Moser, he was still underrated in my opinion. My favorite play was the forced fumble he had against Iowa's tight end. He just muscled the ball right out of his hands. I was pretty disappointed he wasn't able to go pro.

I'm missing another CB. Claims he's from DeSoto High School in Texas. Big playmaker in the pros, especially because he plays opposite Rodney Harrison, but also because he knows how to return a kick...

I think anyone would take Moser, Paris, E Hobbs and L Hicks back in the secondary. Those were some exciting times

Iowa has a freshman TE recruit last year that changed to DE, and he looked pretty dang good to me.

Bryce, i'm assuming your speaking of Christian Ballard.....Well he was a TE/DE prospect....at 6'4 280, in high school and running 4.76 he's much more of a threat on the Defensive side of the ball....plus Iowa has some holes there next year - he will be starting this coming fall. If he stayed at TE, he would have been behind Moeaki for two years. As a prospect, he was rated as the #4 tight end in the nation by rivals and #10 DE prospect by Scout, so it fit Iowas depth for him to play on D and plus he will get bigger and stronger, his size may have become an issue at TE. Also, understand Iowa's front 7 was very good this year, and the pressence of seniors Iwebama and Mattison on the right side and klinkenborg and Humpal at LB may have accounted for one player looking good when singled up, how will he do with double teams???

King looks like a stud by the way.....Picture King, Osemele, Big Trey, Grant - the makings of an awesome line....Throw in there Carpenter, and Tuftee - thats how you build a program....start on the lines.....

Talked with my neighbors son who was at the same camp that tuftee was at that got him his schollie offer and he said he was dominating some really good dlinemen.....he said that Tuftee looked twice as good as Logan Pegram a 3* lineman from Kansas......not to mention that he outlifted every lineman at the camp....He laughed when he said that Tuftee had a bit of a mean streak when he played....

Like the sounds of that......

no doubt 33, if our Secondary ever reminds me of those times, i will be saying uh oh....watch out.....

Unfortunately, right now, they're not even close.....maybe 2008 will build on the foundations of Chiz and staffs hard work....oooopppppsss i almost forgot.....Also on Sheps hard work.... I can't wait to see our team under his leadership for a whole year....our team will not roll over in the 4th quarter....i thought that our team already looked a lot fresher in the 4th quarter then they had in the past...wait til Chiz and staffs guys are moving from the redshirt list into starters...then we will know where we stand....depth, competition, athletic, strong.....cant wait....:wideeyed:
