Great Listen.

1. I believe that was Mike Johnson that grey shirted wasn't it?

2. Gray, you are 100% correct, we need more height at LB, i am getting really tired of the undersized ones. Granted, George is a good exception. He was all of 5'10. I stood next to him once, dude is just small, but stacked.

3. Season expectations: It's gonna be interesting. I really think Coaching cost us a lot last year. you look at the games we were within striking distance at half, or were ahead.
--Toledo game. (Terrible Coaching)
--Iowa Game (Was a lot closer than the scoreboard, that all came at the end.
--TCU- we were down by 3 at Half, got conservative. TCU ran away.
--Oklahoma Game (Was 21-9 at the half. Oklahoma woke up and started running the ball.
--K-State (We should have never lost that god damn game.)
--Tech (They poured it on late, not surprising Defense was just gassed, and offense sucked.)
Theres 8 possible wins. Who knows Defense may be just just good enough to get a stop late, maybe a couple surprise wins.

That is sheer blind optimism.

Toledo and Kstate I'll agree with. The rest of the games you, and others, have mentioned as being "winnable" are pretty big stretches. Bad teams lose games. Good teams win them. Whether they are close or not at one point in the game doesn't matter. What separates the good teams from the bad is the ability to separate and win. Some of that is coaching, but a lot of it is on the players as well. I know it's convenient to blame it on coaching because there was a change, but let's be a little more level headed when doing so.

Good podcast guys. Looking forward to more!

I would add iowa to that list and Oklahoma st. If we had the Mike warren we have now in the iowa game we win that game

Actually if we sacked him in the end zone that game I think it was getting close to our game. Horrible fundamentals, led to the break down of coverage and old blondie ploddding down the field running for his life.

We could've easily beat kstate, okie state, Toledo and iowa. That would've put us at 7 wins. The rest of the games weren't gonna happen. We were much better than our record indicated last year. As long as the o-line is serviceable, I fully expect a bowl game this year.

The Toledo game ABSOLUTELY should have been a win. That was a complete choke job, as was the K-State game. Add those two and we're at 5 wins. Even mediocre coaching would have been enough to win those two games.

The Iowa game would've been a lot different if Warren was the number one RB at that time. He didn't emerge until the third or fourth game. Probably only had about five or six touches against Iowa. Not saying we definitely would have won with Warren getting the ball more but it would've been a much different story.

Am I the only one who thinks Gray has the best takes of the CF squad?

I'm age 65. Rob, I'm guessing, if not old school, is "older school" - pretty much straight reporting. That's good, I like it.

CW is a "kid," really. Not only generational differences with the Boomers like myself, but, too, he has roots in broadcasting rather than print. I like his laid-back "it's my opinion and I'm not apologizing for it" approach. For an old guy like me, CW and the other youts (as we used to say in the Bronx . . . ;-) are refreshing. I like 'em.

Clearly, to me, CW is more comfortable on "air" than are several of the others.

The one thing - no, two things - I wish the CF group would improve upon (even though they didn't ask):

1) Copy editing/proof reading - lots, I mean lots, of typos in the content, and a few egregious errors get published. Does anybody at CF give their stuff a quick read-through?

2) Research - primarily recruiting reporting (I'm a sucker for recruiting updates, so I notice). In the most recent football recruiting podcast, the guys mentioned 2018 OL recruit Alex Williams and wondered if he had some sort of connection to CMC and coaches. I read - via a link on CF - that Alex W's high school head coach is the brother of ISU's director of player personnel. So yeah, there is a connection.

I don't mean to be critical but friendly. Hope the guys take it that way.

You have to realize when we recorded this podcast it was about 3 hours after Williams had committed and I don't believe anyone had talked to him yet. You listened to our podcast a full 2 days after we recorded it.

I figured there would be a connection to get him committed so early from out of state but not knowing was not a lack of research, but rather time.

Thanks for replying, Rob. I now understand. My mistake. I'll be aware of timing in the future.

Can't wait for the next recruiting Podcast!
