I like the KCCI design...I guess I'm the only one. I did have to hit the "IE tab" in firefox to make it work though.

Took me forever to just figure out where the radar was. Good idea, bad impelmentation. Also it will not work on a mac at all, that is crappy.

Not sure how long they've been broadcasting this, but 13.2 is now back on the air, showing Weather Plus.

Well, this seems to be the general consensus. This was a corporate decision with KCCI being the 3rd Hearst station to do it. So far feedback in all markets has been 75% negative.

You should try to update the booger. You can customize it so you can put what you want on top, just not sure if you can remove anything...just put it on the bottom so you don't see it.

Weather fanatics are very vocal...just don't send the weather team any mean emails....we didn't do it:smile:

I didn't like it at first either. Then I remembered how cluttered the old page had become. It was hard to find things like SchoolNet.

Maybe it is just a case of them trying to put too much information on their weather page.

I HAVE AN IDEA!!! Let's take what's working and totally muddy it up so no one gets it and goes somewhere else for their news and weather! It's all cutting edge and different and stuff, which might win us one of those cool little design awards, so who gives a sh#t about functionality and customer satisfaction!

That's the pitch you'll most likely get from many advertising agencies...in so many words.

I kind of like the new design. I can find everything I want because it's all right there. Plus, it works with all of the browsers I've tried.

More graphics, less text!

This is correct. KMBC in Kansas City switched to this format several months ago. The previous version was the same one that KCCI used to use. I hate the new format as well. I was hoping they would get so much negative feedback that they would go back to the old version, but so far no luck. I have given up hope and have started going to other sites to get my weather fix.

Hey Hearst, get it through your head, this thing sucks!

I doubt they'll change it back if they have a sizable investment in it.

They need to, though.

<rant>

What I want in an online newspaper is "craigslist"/yahoo news/sports but with local content. What I want in weather is "Weather Underground". What I want in a TV station is a "youtube channel" but with content from the station and in higher quality.

What I absolutely don't want is what dmregister.com, kcci.com, whotv.com and woi.com have done.

Don't make your page everything to everyone. Provide the content that you generate in a useful, simple, uncomplicated manner. I'm getting my world news from news.bbc.co.uk, my national sports from sportsline.com, my national news from cnn.com and, now, my weather from wunderground.com. I don't need to have it bastardized and re-hashed in tiny parts of a horribly laid-out site with stock feeds from the same sources that I can find on a dozen different major sites.

If you're going to have a presence on the internet, give me a reason to go to your page, and for me, that's local news, local weather, and local sports. Go to KCCI.com and see how much of the homepage is actually local news, weather and sports. 5%? 10%? Dmregister.com is better in terms of content, but the site takes FOREVER to load even on a fast internet connection and fast computer, and it's so cluttered with crap that you can never find what you're looking for.

It's just sad that traditional media outlets just don't seem to "get it".

I do agree that some are blowing this sub-par enhancement way out of proportion. Worst site ever?

This is a poor modification, no doubt - but I've seen far worse.

Apparently I am the minority, as I think it is pretty cool. I like having everything on one page (including forecast, school closing, and radar) in a format that is easy for me to find what I am looking for. Arrangement is customizable, so I can put my top three favorites in the large pictures at the top. A cookie is stored so it stays that way the next time I view the page.

This is a good looking site, in my opinion. Also, I agree with the person that said it reminds him of the Nintendo Wii layout....which I also like.

Shouldn't be. We had a nice turn out for the "life threatening weather warning interrupting My Name is Earl" thread.

You are correct sir. People love any chance they can get to complain.
