A big lineup could work great if you had big guys that could pass the ball and score in the post consistently. Solomon is OK in the post. Most of his points still come from mid-range jumpers and dump off passes though. Condit hasn't shown much ability to score on post ups. Neither have shown they can both play in the post and work off each-other. So, if we play them both, what do they do?
In this day and age you need to be able to shoot the 3 to win consistently. That's just how it is. 24 three point attempts is not excessive. Just need to make them. I think the larger problem by far is defense, though. Specifically perimeter defense. SDSU guards were not quick, yet they pretty much got by their defender any time they wanted. Our defenders either jump on shot fakes, close out too hard, are late on help/switches, or just flat out get lazy and get caught "napping" constantly. Shots weren't falling from 3 last night, but we still shot 48.3% overall. That's not bad. Our % inside the arc was excellent.
Just like last year, our offense isn't great, but it's not bad. Our defense & rebounding is atrocious. We still don't have anyone that is tenacious going after loose balls and rebounds. Dubar seems to be the best, but his playing time is limited.
