Seeing a thread about top load vs front load washers. It begs me to ask the question. If you live close enough to Omaha, and do your homework, isn't Nebraska Furniture mart 90% of the time the best value? I am over 50 and absolutely love to research and compare. NFM usually wins. (i hate paying Nebraska sales tax though) Where else could I try for value and selection, even in Des Moines isn't Homemakers the place to go ? (owned by NFM I believe)

I believe there is a Nebraska Furniture Mart someplace in Des Moines. I'm not sure where though but that would be a way to avoid Nebraska sales tax.

There's a NFM in DSM for appliances only.

Also, NFM from Omaha can beat Homemakers prices even with delivery costs added on furniture. I look around Homemakers and then buy it from NFM and have it delivered. Saved ~$150 on a chair and ottoman.

Got our last two washer and dryers at NFM in Des Moines. It is off of Hickman behind Willis Auto Campus (Hummer, Cadillac, etc dealership.) Pretty good prices.

I'm like you, over 50 and love to compare and do my research. We live in Cedar Rapids and over the last 10 years have pretty much furnished our house with things from NFM. Homemaker's is owned by them but they compete. We found bedroom furniture at HOmemakers, got pricesf, went on to NFM and they beat them by $500. We have put new carpet throughout our hose, hardwood floors, all from NFM. Just hired someone local to install it. saved a ton

Having said all this, buying a room full of furniture is worth the trip, buying just one item, maybe not.

You do realize that Homemakers is NFM...they are the same company, they buy from the same suppliers, for the same negotiated prices, they have the same sales. The only difference really would be.....the Name. Homemakers was a well established brand in Des Moines which was bought out by Warren Buffets NFM.

Yes, I do know they are the same company that's why it works so well to walk into Homemakers, find what I want and then order it from NFM.

Berkshire owns both, but they do not operate in tandem.

Remember also a lot of stores will honor other stores sales. I bought a couch in Mississippi when I was living there that NFM was also selling for almost $200 cheaper and b/c I showed them the NFM ad, the store in MS gave me the NFM price.

Give that a try at a store near where you live or in the DSM area.
