The anger and frustration regarding PJ is because he’s incredibly talented and one of the most athletic wrestlers in the game today. Problem is that he shows it about 20 seconds per match. He watches the clock and doesn’t wrestle anywhere to the top of his abilities. KD obviously is frustrated as well. He’s talked about it all year. He can’t figure out how to unlock PJ and he losses to far less talented kids.

That’s it. That’s all.

Interesting take.

I haven’t noticed anything about Paniro being injured. Maybe his pride?
I was told by someone during Football season that Paniro had torn his ACL. That came directly from him. Not sure if he was messing with the person he told that too. But he was on crutches during the FB season and has worn knee braces on both knees all yr. Just saying. IMO he has something going on.

So what’s his deal the other years?

That would make 6 of our 10 starters, plus 2 freshman/soph backs up with torn up knees or ankles

More than one thing can be true at the same time. We can be appreciative of what Paniro has accomplished (2 conf titles and some good wins), proud that he represents the program really well, frustrated that he can't/doesn't let it fly, and wishful that he could get over the hump when the lights are brightest. I thought he looked gimpy tonight, which is par for the course for us but it's not like he puts up double figures when he's 100% despite some amazing talent, thus the frustration.

Here's hoping he makes a helluva run on the backside and brings home 3rd.

I have been debating on whether or not to do this. Paniro has been disappointing considering his ability. But this community can’t question his will or desire to be his best.

Anyone who reads the wrestling threads knows he has sickle cell trait. There have been posters on here that have talked about it before.

My 10-year old son has sickle cell disease. Couldn’t even go to school this week. Been hospitalized 3 times the last year. ICU for a few days last fall. He loves to play basketball but will never play at a level equal to his grade level because he’s gassed after 5 minutes.

Having sickle cell trait is not the same deliberative condition as sickle cell disease but the symptoms could be the same. Corey stringer? Many of the horrible early football deaths have attributed sickle cell trait as a contributing factor. Paniro can be both an elite college wrestler and a young man who can’t fulfill his potential because of the curse of genetics.

We can be disappointed but we should show some level of grace at the same time. People with sickle cell disease are call warriors. My son is a warrior. Tonight I’m glad to call bockman a warrior. I’m also glad to call Paniro a warrior.

Non-ISU note. Penn State went 20-0 today with 3 Falls, 7 Tech Falls and 3 Majors.

I mean, what the actual **** is anyone supposed to do to try and compete with that lol

Sweet Jesus. If he’s hurt, I’ll be the first to apologize for anything I’ve posted. That said, all I’ve posted is related to what I see as the exact same wrestling I’ve seen for 3 years from a guy who has all the talent in the world, so I’m not sure what else to say.
When are we going to stop blaming this on the wrestlers and start blaming the coaches we lose every 50/50 scramble and all our guys are hurt
