False. Iowa State did it to prove DSM can host. They did it so Drake could host in the future allowing us the chance to play there later rather than it never being here and never having the chance to play. Once they know a city can host it, it doesn't matter what school hosts.

Yes, a portion of Court Ave was blocked off, at least for the first day. The first day also fell on St. Patty's so they went all out down there. The Iowa Craft Beer Tent had a pretty solid setup at Cowles Commons and Buzzard Billy's rented out the basement of their building and turned it into a large make shift party area. There were plenty of places for fans to go and all were within reasonable walking distance from the Well. Oh, and HyVee Hall had beer and food available between session 1 and 2, which was nice if you were attending both sessions.

Strictly a capacity issue, the sites they've picked since Des Moines are around 22,000

When the Well was built the target seat number for the Wrestling Championship was right around 16,000. The NCAA has figured out that the event can draw much larger crowds so at this point the Well is too small and the money grab takes precedence.

They used the plaza across from the Civic Center as an outdoor space - beer tents, BB hoops, Food Trucks. etc.

As an aside, I believe there exists some proposals to develop a mini- P & L district on some of the surface lots south of Hy-Vee Hall. Not sure if there are any legs behind this though.

Iowa won't step up as a host institution because their future is too bright.

Weird. That must be why the MVC hosts about every other year at 3 different venues (Men in StL and Wichita and women in DSM) and has done a Men's Final Four and multiple Women's Final Fours, not to mention several Cross Country and Golf National tournaments.

Yeah, its all on the Valley if Des Moines isn't selected.

Des Moines is getting it again. If Spokane, Boise, Dayton and Tulsa get it regularly, so will Des Moines.
