This is my favorite scene, especially the part about Eddie talking about son's work history. Also the dickie, the see-through sweater, the shoes... it’s just fantastic.

For me, the dickie makes the scene! This falls into the same category of my previous post. I had to see the movie so many times before I picked up on the little nuances like the dickie.

For one Halloween I dressed as cousin Eddie with the dickie; the general response from the crowd of 30+ was awesome.

I hope you completed the ensemble with the moose glass.

Just realized this movie featured future stars of three decades of sitcoms, Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld-1990's), Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond- 2000's) and Johnny Galecki (Big Bang Theory-2010s).

Or how far the saucer goes when they're out sledding.

There isn't really anything in Vacation as outrageous as either of those. Maybe how far the station wagon flies off the dead end road in the desert?
Christie Brinkley skinny dipping with Chevy Chase.

John Hughes had a 15 year hit streak for iconic comedies that will probably never be matched. He understood how to draw something outrageously funny from the common, mundane experiences of Americans.
Dude just put out masterpieces and did it without cheap laughs.
