Who do you think the most improved players on offense and defense will be this year?

Offense - I think Sean Shaw is going have a breakout season. He showed some great signs this past season and our tight end core is going to get a lot of attention leaving some one on ones for Shaw to take advange of.

Defense - Eisworth. He got dinged up in the Iowa game and was a shadow of his former self this past season. He finally plays healthy and has motivation to be a first rounder in the next draft.

I like your Sean Shaw pick, I might have picked him too, but I'll pick someone else since you already did.

Offense - Trevor Downing- I think he will be so much more confident this season.

Defense - Tayvonn Kyle - He will be one of our starting CB's IMO. Great coverage skills, just needed another year of learning the position IMO, and he has that now.

How about Tarique Milton on offense? He didn't have as many catches last year as I had expected, likely because Jones and to some extent, Pettway, emerged as the prime targets. I think Milton can get a lot of both intermediate and long receptions this year.

On defense, I think Jaquan Bailey will play with his hair on fire because he knows he has this one shot to make a bid for the NFL, after completely falling off the charts due to his injury.

Good call on Kyle. And thank you @jrastrel for giving us something positive for a change.

I’ll take an easy one and go with Will McDonald. Post-hype breakout upcoming.

I think Tarique lower catch total was just his role last year running deeper routes while DeShaunte picked up the “easy” catch totals.

If I had to pick someone that nobody might be thinking of... I'd go with Landon Akers.

I really hope you're right with the Will McDonald pick. First off, I hope he's gained some good weight... the kid is thin as a rail. I still think he's going to be a passing down only pass rusher though, which is fine. I don't know if we'll ever see him as an every down player unless he can really bulk up a lot.

Offense - Sean Shaw (I also think Jirehl Brock will team with Hall to be a factor at RB)

Defense - Eyioma Uwazurike (he moves inside and is a beast)

It will be interesting to see who makes the most improvement this spring since this isn't a normal spring.

If I remember right, I think Campbell really really likes Kyle.

Idk. He pretty much dominated 80% of the time he was on the field towards the end of the year. I hope he never leaves the field.

As a pass rusher I agree, but he definitely needs to get more stout against the run to never leave the field.

I didn't see him play a whole lot outside of passing downs when he could just pin his ears back and pass rush. If that's his role again this year, I'm happy. He was great at it and something we haven't had in awhile.

We have several other "every down" type DEs that can work into the rotation. Great position to have depth and options.

Offense: we need someone on the line to step up next year or we're in trouble, so hoping its one of them

Defense: Really hoping its Tavonn Kyle or Datrone Young who I thought took a step back last year

Kyle is a good pick. He showed flashes in the limited time he got. Seems like a good one from both development and effort standpoints. Young guys with good work ethics do very well here

IDK if it'll be a case of improvement or just they get more opportunities with less guys in front of them but I'm hoping to see McDonald, Shaw, and Wilson do well this year.

CMC has said that Datrone was hampered by injuries last year.

I’m going to distinguish between “most improved” and “breakout” players.

On offense, I’m going to go with Brock as most improved. Last year I predicted he’d hit 4,000 yards (and I missed—by 18), but I think he improves his numbers across the board. 27 TD passes was rather paltry for the yardage he put up, so I think he makes a big jump there. And he won’t be fighting a bad ankle half the season.

Defensively, I’ve gotta go with Mike Rose. I’ve read that he’s going to slide back to Mike (with Vance going to Will). If that’s true, it could make a huge difference in Mike’s performance—and in the defense overall.

Breakout players? I’m tempted to go with Darien Porter, but I think he just gets his feet wet this season. So I’ll go with Joe Scates. Too much talent to stay quiet his whole career. Scary talent! His open field running is like a 6’2” Tarique.

My runner up would be Grant Treiber—at left tackle.

On defense, I’ll go with safety/nickel Isheem Young. Now, I realize that Arnold Azunna may well start, but I think that Young is really going to open some eyes.

Of course, the “breakout” player on defense will probably turn out to be whoever grabs the open linebacker spot, but I don’t have a clue who that will be right now.

Maybe not most improved, but I think Isheem Young is an impact player from game 1. Also give me Collin Newell and Trevor Downing. I think they could be a really nice tandem inside.
