There was one play, can't remember when specifically, but Texas converted a third down by about a single inch. The side judge RAN to where the ball was spotted and furiously pumped his arms for the chains to move. It sure looked to me like the spot was close enough to bring the chains out and measure, but the zebras were adamant that it was a first down.
As long as we all melting down about this game I might as well add my own thread.
Did anyone else feel like the refs were noticeably bad at spotting the ball after plays last night? There seemed to be an unusually high number of spots that were half a yard or more off where the ball was downed.
My brother and I both observed that independently last night.
We made substitutions which requires us to allow the defense to make substitutions. It also appeared to me that the refs took their time spotting the ball for us, allowing UT to make defensive substitutions when we were in the hurry up. I also saw on at least 2 occasions UT players kicking the ball around after a play (clearly intentional from my vantage point 400 feet away). I won't even talk about butterfingers bobbling the ball when we were running our hurry up at the end of the game (unless you count this sentance as talking about it).
